Program does not launch, i get error message: "License Manager is not functioning or is improperly installed. Autocad will shut down now". I download hotfix and installed, same result.  Went to support page and went down the list of suggested solutions, same result. Tried contacting tech support but they are booked for days.  NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Autocad LT 2020.

Windows 10.

What do you mean "is it there and started?" It's on and functioning and has
been fine forever until now.

Can you stop that given service and reboot your machine.   Does the service start back up?

Go here C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services and delete the loginstate.xml file

Then run the batch file per @TravisNave  posting https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/how-to-reset-autodesk-2020-licensing/td-p/8699662 and then restart software.

Also make sure WIndows UAC is set to not notify before resetting license and starting the application.

Thank you, Mark. I tried this and still got the same message about the
License Manager once I opened Autocad LT 2020. Any other good ideas?!

Not sure if this will work  or not.  But I have had to do this a few times for others (but it was related to the timeout message they were seeing)..   Just wondering if resetting it this way will help.

Follow the steps here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-License-checkout-timed-out-What-do-you-want-to-do-in-AutoCAD-2020.html using Option #2.

However it requires you to have the full installation media on your machine and step 15 may need to be changed due to the product you're using.

I'll give it a try. Step 2 is requires that I delete this file:
*%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Web Services\LoginState.xml* file
How do I find that file?
Thanks.

  • Open Windows Explorer
  • Literally paste in this path: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Web Services\

On Step 10 of Option 2 above the file name I have for Autocad 2020 was different than the one given which was:  C:\Autodesk\AutoCAD_2020_English_win_64bit_dlm\x86\AdskLicensing).

Regardless, I clicked on the file listed and there was nothing listed anything close to what was recommended to run which was: AdskLicensing-installer.exe

Is this a clue to my problem? Could this file be wrong and/or the licensing be missing?
