Digital Signature from EXE files are expired

Hey all,

I just got a brand new laptop and wanted to install AutoCAD, Revit and 3ds Max. I am a student, so I did the usual: went to the browser, download the installer but then when I double clicked nothing happened. Nothing at all, as if it did not exist. After around 6 hours of trying various things, googling and doing everything I could I saw the digital signature of the EXE file was expiring today (13 feb 2016). Then I changed my laptop date to yesterday, and the installer started (but froze in "initializing").

Any idea on what I could do to install the programs?

Thanks

Hello @Anonymous,

It seems like you could be experiencing an incomplete download and that is why the install is not working.

If you are using a download now or install now you want to try a more effective method called browser download via the Autodesk Virtual Agent.

I have listed some steps to prepare your system for download and installation in case you run into a problem.

  • Log in as an Administrator
  • Empty your TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Explorer and hit Enter
  • Temporarily disable your Antivirus software & Firewall
  • Temporarily disable UAC:  Windows 7Windows 10
  • Download all of the parts Autodesk Virtual Agent
  • Locate the download folder and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe. If you have a permission issue right click and select, Run as administrator
  • Files will be directed to C:\Autodesk
  • Follow the prompts to install the program

If you continue to experience an issue, please locate your Windows TEMP folder. You can do this by going to the Windows Start > type Run in the search box (shortcut Win.key+R) and typing %TEMP% into the box and clicking OK

Find the Autodesk product and save the installation .log file. Please attach this log file to your reply.

Note: Log files sometimes contain private information such as serial numbers, please remove this information.

I hope this answered your question or resolved the issue, if so please click Kudos or the "thumbs-up!" Did my response help resolve the issue? Please "Accept As Solution" to help others in the community.

Please post a screenshot or screencast of the issue you're having. In addition, please provide the installation log file found in you %temp% directory.

That's the same issue I had yesterday. I managed to install by changing the date to yesterday's.

I managed to install in the end, by changing the date, so my temp files will not exist anymore. There was a file, though, which said that the EXE could not be run because it was not propperly signed, hence why I discovered the signature expiring.

Hello @gemma.ggv,

Please let us know if the download was successful using the Virtual Agent. The "Install Now" as mentioned by @Anonymous will use an executable (.exe) file that has a timestamp that expires. The usual workaround is to use another method of download called the "Browser Download" using the Virtual Agent.
