autocad license manager is not functioning or is improperly installed

Anonymous

Hello,

I have a problem with lanching any auodesk program, when I click the shortcut on my desktop it first looks like it's working, but then it shows this message ''autocad license manager is not functioning or is improperly installed''. The weird thing is i used the program like 3 days ago, and now suddenly nothing is working anymore. I ofcourse searched for a solution myself, i found this page and tried the following:

I reinstalled autocad;

I tried to run it as administrator;

The 3rd step i couldn't do cause i don't have the CLM folder under Autodesk (see picture)

none of them worked....

I really hope somebody could help me out, cause i really need autocad right now...

I also found this page (https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1903274-autocad-lt-2017-the-license-manager-is-not-functionin...) and in that case there was a problem with the servers, and after some time it worked again. Could this be the problem? should i just wait?

I would really appreciate any suggestions  or maybe question if you have an idea?

sorry for my English it's not my native language....

You are looking in C:\Program Files..  Incorrect location for the CLS information..  Its C:\Programdata which is a hidden folder (may have to change your viewing settings).

Update:  Also here's a collection of articles that address this issue.

Update #2:  Forgot to address the fatal error message..

This usually points to a couple of things.

1. Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder.   Delete as many files and folders as possible.  You will not be able to delete them all but clean out as many as possible.  Relaunch application and see if that resolves the issue

2.  IF item #1 doesn't resolve the fatal error, follow the steps in this article

1.   Make sure you have full admin rights, set Windows UAC to never notify and if possible disable your Anti-Virus/Malware scanning utilities. Also the download should occur over a hard wired connection to the Internet and not over WIFI.

2. Access the Autodesk Virtual Agent and follow the download links to your product.

3. Download all of the parts (some applications only have a single part to download) for your product first. This means save each part to your hard drive.  Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
4. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
5. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
6. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
7. Follow the installation steps for your product.  At this point you could cancel the installation or create a deployment.

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.

Posting info: Sometimes the installation log file contains the serial # that was assigned to you.  Open your log file using Windows Notepad and perform a search on "/SN".  Depending on the number of installation attempts, your serial # may be located throughout the log file.  If present, remove or "X" out your serial # prior to posting.

Good luck on your installation and report back on your progress.

Hello @Anonymous,

Just to confirm, have you first installed Civil 3D by using the steps @Mark.Lancaster provided you with?

Your images show you are trying to install a Plugin, not the product Civil 3D. First download & install Civil 3D.

Please "Accept As Solution" if a reply or replies have helped resolve the issue or answered your question, to help others in the community.

Are you saying if you go into Windows Control Panel/Program and Features/Add&Remove programs, Civil3d (version you need) is not there?  If so you need to run Microsoft Fixit.  For this utility you need to repeat it for each application that needs to be uninstalled.

Perform a clean uninstall per these instructions.  Just make sure to adjust settings if you have other Autodesk products already installed/working on your machine.  Followed by installing the product using these steps:

Download and install per:

1.  Clean out your personal temp (%temp%) folder.

You have a 1618 error which indicates another installation is occurring or the last one hung.  Reboot machine and try again.

That's the standard crash report.  There's noting in that image that tells us what the issue is.  These reports must go to Autodesk.

Do you have a machine that meets the requirements?  Have you run the pre-checker?
