Export 3d model to 3d viewer

Simple idea-

I would like to export my IW model to a 3d pdf platform.

You can do that! You can export to FBX, than open into Navisworks, and use a plugin from Simlab, to save the Fbx as a PDF, and you can navigate into it, keeping layers!

@jspeed, you can publish your model including a scenario. Then you can view your model in the InfraWorks online viewer including the iPad app.

@jspeed do the suggested solutions meet your needs or would you still like to see the ability to go directly to 3D PDF. If so, what's the reason? Give us some specific examples of how going directly to 3D PDF would benefit you.

Here you can find the plugin I'm talking about Jspeed:

http://www.simlab-soft.com/3d-plugins/Navisworks/3D_PDF_exporter_for_Navisworks-main.aspx

Step by step you need to:

1- esport the model as FBX: Capture.PNG

2- open into Navisworks

3- use the export to PDF from SimLabCapture.PNG

And then you are good to go.

Hope it helps

All-

Thx for the replies.  More to the problem however, I have found that the publish feature in IW is good it really doesn’t show the level of detail as the model inside IW.  I want my clients to have the same sense of aww and power I see.  I have also thought of many great opportunities to use IW but need the end-user to have a great experience as well.  The 3d PDF was only an option to see the interaction, detail, and function of the model once the workflow was established and exported.  I may end up taking it to a game engine to really get the desired effect and end-user experience.  However, if you have another suggestion I am all ears.

Thx again

@jspeed, don't let your clients only stick to awww,...let them drive your models!

Another option is to point your clients to the trial download of InfraWorks 360 and have them install it.  All they need is a free Autodesk account and they can sign into InfraWorks 360 with limited functionality (navigate the model, play storyboards, take measurements, etc.).  You create a group, invite them to it, and publish the model to the group.

Now they have the power to view the model the way you're viewing it. And if they like, they can even launch the trial and get the full-feature experience for 30 days.

Using Stingray as a delivery platform is great, as it is very lightweight compared to an installation of IW360. This becomes of particular importance when you deal with clients who are not allowed to install application without IT's blessing. Autodesk Live provides this workflow for Revit, but it would great to see with IW360 in the future. What is interesting about Live is you can open an exported session in Stingray for further development, provided you have the knowledge.

Anyway, this has my vote and I recommend Live/Stingray as the delivery platform.

What about exporting to the new Autodesk Project Play 3D Web environment? That can make it also an interactive 3D model Smiley Wink

Please note that to play with Project Play, you must first join the feedback community project:

Since there seems to be workaround and export options gotten better as well. Let me close this.
