Allow users with access to Docs to save Model Builder results locally

With the update to 2019, Infraworks moved from its own cloud groups to utilize the BIM 360 Document Management Service. This change brought the loss of a few things as well as the gain of a few things but one big issue that is occurring is that if a User has been invited to a projects docs service, they lose the ability to save their project locally and are forced to push to the cloud.

An example of the situation could be that a user is invited to another companies host for a project, while their own firm does not have a bim 360 subscription. Now if that user would like to use Model Builder for one of their own projects, they cannot save locally. This should not be the case.

I can see where that scenario (invited to a BIM Docs” Group for another company) could really cause issues for an employee that doesn’t have an account through their employer. Thanks for posting this suggestion. You have my vote.

Thanks @pmarchese for this suggestion, and @C3D_TomR for the follow up. Both are great suggestions.  This isn't the first time I've heard this, and I'll be bringing up with the teams to discuss further. Stay tuned. (Also? Hi to both of you! Hope you're well.)

I'd also like to see the option to generate Model Builder models locally brought back as an option.  It seems that once you are part of a BIM 360 project, that becomes the only option to use for Model Builder, but if you don't have BIM 360 linked to your account you can still generate models locally.  I would like to see an option to choose either one when using the feature.

While it is nice to have more documents stored centrally in the cloud to one source (BIM 360), there needs to be an option for those who don't have an account subscription. I concur with the comments above.

We released a hotfix for 2019.3 today that allows all users to create "local" Model Builder models. You can find it in the Autodesk Desktop App and more information here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/infraworks-forum/2019-3-hotfix-1-released-and-available-in-autodesk-desktop-app/td-p/8641046
