Remove country kits from model

Hi all,

I need to open a previous model done in an earlier version of Infraworks.

However, Infraworks demands that I install all the country kits again.  I never even used any of the objects in any of the country kits and really really don't want to install them again.  Is it possible to uncountry kit a model?

Hi @m_kingdon ,

it's possible.
The answer can be found in this article: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/Unable-to-open-Model-because-additional-content-is-needed-in-...

No, I mentioned in my post that I do not wish to install the country kits.

Hi @m_kingdon ,

have you noticed this text in the article?

Open the model without installing a Country Kit for InfraWorks:

  1. Open the "model.files" folder.
  2. In the subfolder "unver", open the "ModelSettings.json" file.
  3. Search for "RequiredContentPacks": [].
  4. Remove the Country Kits from the file and save it.
  5. Note: The model can be opened now, but changing the "ModelSettings.json" file might impact the model, especially when synchronizing the model to ACC Docs."

Regards,
Karsten.

thanks, I didn't notice this.  I read the heading that said "Solution: Install the missing Country Kit(s)", jumped to conclusion that the rest of the article was instructions on how to install the country kits, got angry and posted here.

But I do think this highlights an issue with Infraworks.  Having to find folders deep in the system and tinker with files is just not acceptable for the common user.  This is the type of tinkering I would accept with an open-source application, not paid closed wall software.

Hi @m_kingdon ,

I agree with you, this sort of option should be controlled in model settings.
I created an improvement idea on InfraWorks Ideashttps://forums.autodesk.com/t5/infraworks-ideas/remove-country-kits-from-model-controlled-by-a-setti...

Regards,

Karsten.
