Infraworks fails to open/start Error: unable to locate resources directory

Anonymous

Hi,

I have installed Infraworks on my work laptop. I was deployed two versions, of Infraworks 360 2017, release 2 and 3. Both have the same issue and both have been tried on both Windows 7 and Windows 10.

When opening the application I receive an error box with the following message:

"Autodesk InfraWorks is unable to locate the Resources directory. Please refer to this article for more information: http://tinyurl.com/q3xmhf3"

I click close and then receive the following error:

"Autodesk InfraWorks cannot load the application settings."

The link takes me to a hotfix for a 2015 version of the software and this won't apply to the 2017 version due to the versions being different.

My IT team have drawn a blank and so I am keen to try and understand why this is happening. If it is a case of making a folder in a directory called 'resources' then I can, but I don't know where this should be, or what information should be contained within it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Hi @Anonymous, it seems that may be an incomplete download, could you please try to download the software from this link:

http://upandready.typepad.com/

Just to see if you get a different result.

I am installing it now on my testing machine with Win 10 and will let you know if I get the same issue

Hope this will help!

Hello,

Unfortunately I am limited to the software versions that are deployed to my work laptop. So far they have issued 2017 releases 1, 2 and 3 all of which give the same error.

I suspect the error might be due to permissions on my laptop preventing the installation from creating the resources directory. But I am unable to look in to this due to the limited access I have.

It has to be, have you asked IT to log as an administrator with full admin right to install it for you?

That should work

I have attached a list of all the files/folders in the folder as a CSV file. A screenshot would not have fitted.

Thanks.

Check the content of this location

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\InfraWorks 360\Resources

you should have 27 items there

Hope this will help!

I have the following location:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\InfraWorks 360 2017\Resources

The folder is empty.

That is your problem, all the files in this folder are download directly from the Autodesk server.

Let us see if we can bypass your security...

Please send me a message in privet with your email address, I will compress the content information on a zip file and send it to you by Dropbox.

You will only need to download and extract the content to the location mentioned before.

Hope this will help!

Hi @dadan_suhendar ,

open your Autodesk account page (accounts.autodesk.com) and open your products list. Then look for Browser Download and download the installation files for offline installation.

Regards,

Karsten.
