Converting road to design road (curves issue)

Hi,

I import my roads as a SDF file exported from Civil 3D. It let me to import an axis and vertical profile at once. Road`s curves looks nice but  when I convert them to design roads the axis looks like a broken line. The curves are not smooth. 

Any idea why it happens like that?

Hi @Anonymous, if your roads are alignments from C3D try to import your Civil 3D drawing instead you may get a better result because they come in as design road already and it will respect the alignment curve geometry from Civil

I did try but I use InfraWorks 2018 and Civil 3D 2017 and when I import Civil3D drawing the window pops up that it is not Civil 3D 2018 drawing.

Does it mean that IW 2018 is not compatible with Civil 3D 2017 ?

Unfortunately no, if you install IW 2018 you need to install all 2018 software, at least C3D and Navis because those are release especific.

If you want to use IW with C3D you will need to uninstall IW 2018 and install IW360 2017.3

Sadly once you open your models on IW 2018 you can't go back, so my friend you need to install C3D 2018 if you want to use both

IW 2018 is not compatible with Civil 3D 2017,  Civil 3D 2018 is available.
