All,
I have had lots of experience with importing surfaces into Infraworks but I am stuck. I created a model using model builder. I opened up the Infraworks model in Civil 3D; I did some design work in SiteOps and exported to Civil 3D (as a LandXML, and as a Civil 3D drawing). I try to import the proposed surface back into infraworks and I get the following error:
Failed to import the data. See the details for further information.
I then tried many different ways to get the surface into the IW model but ultimately get the same error:
All these lead to the same error.
These are the things I can think of so far. Any ideas on what may be causing IW to not be able to open the Civil 3D drawing and import the Civil 3D surface? I have done this successfully many times that is why I am so baffled. Attached are some of the CAD files, DEM files, LandXML files that I created.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Trying to finish off my model by tomorrow for a proposal that is due soon! Thanks in advance!!

Hi @sduffin ,
I understand the basic issue is that you cannot import the LandXML file you created in Civil 3D (Proposed Surface.xml) into InfraWorks, correct?
I created a Model Builder model of your area of interest and loaded the file "Proposed Surface.xml" just fine:
Am I missing something?

Karsten.
Thanks I was able to do the same. I didn't try importing LandXML into new model builder model. Not sure why it wouldn't work in my already built model, but I am good now. Thanks for your help!
The LandXML file has a problem, in the category "RetWall"
The RetWallPnt do not follow trhe rule "northing easting elevation".
Thanks for digging into this! I was able to get it to work by importing the LandXML into a new model builder model in IW. Thanks for the response!
