Completely agree. Being able to create my own set of hot keys for each workspace would be the ultimate solution. And yes fillet is really frustrating at the moment.
we hear you loud and clear. We have a backlog item for this, but we do not have a current prioritization for when we can realisticaly deliver this. We have provided a number of shortcut paths with our Toolbox (S-key) and search.
Would be nice to be able to do "User defined shortcut keys" as in Microsoft Office. I find that I use center rectangle as much as I use 2 point rectangle, as I use Mirror tool often and there aren't any short cut keys for them.
I agree with Coscor_NPL, My Space Controller works only to rotate the view, the rest of the buttons are inactive as shortucts for "home" "Front" and so on are inexistent.
As a designer and producer of products and furniture, and use a variety of cad programs, it would be very useful to be able to use similar shortcuts across these programs.
It would also be good to have a "related" hot key i.e. holding/pressing shift to alternate between trim/extend, fillet/chamfer, line/arc...
Agreed! I developed a shortcut system over many years with another program. I want to switch permanently to Fusion 360 but having to use the top ribbon again will be a real pain.
Thank you for your idea, this is getting changed to Future consideration. Right now shortcuts are contextual per workspace. As Fusion continues to evolve other workspaces will add shortcuts. I would also like to be clear that model space and sketch are a part of the same workspace so they are not able to have different shortcut keys with the current architecture.
When you design the last thing you need is to be looking around for shortcuts. Simple things like the "line" tool should be able to be re-routed to the left side of the keyboard. it is a huge time-saver being able to use intuitive hotkeys.
This seems to be an industry standard these days, and I don't really understand why some programs don't have them.
This is especially true for commonly used things such as "offset plane" and when you would prefer to use a shortcut for "offset face" for example. Keep your mouse on the object and your left hand on your toolset. That is the fastest way to design. otherwise you are losing seconds over the time of a project moving your mouse from A-B-A instead of keeping it on A and selecting with your keys.
I understand it's a hobbyist software but even games nowadays have customizable hotkeys!
I work across a lot of 3d software packages and 2d drawing software and I've never seen a software that didn't allow to customize hotkeys! Until I got Fusion.
If there is one single thing you could do to double designer's speed this is exactly the one and the easiest to develop. Come on!
I'm surprised this aspect has to even be suggested. I don't imagine there's a single user much less a professional that doesn't set up any number of key stroke short cuts. That's what separates the pro from the menu slave. There's apparently not even a way to get to otho views without moving the mouse over to the upper right corner and playing with the icon. Tiresome navigation. Navigation is the most utilized aspect of the interface. Anything that increased efficiency in this is fundamental.
I use SolidWorks specifically because of Fusion's lack of hotkey functionality. Until Fusion has hotkeys, I'll just use it for CAM. By the way, I think it's unfair to call Fusion a "hobbyist software." Let's not forget that this software is not free for everyone; if you want 4-axis or 5-axis when they come out, then Fusion will cost a considerable amount of money.
Sorry, I've been unfair. I'm more of engineering enthusiast but professional 3d generalist. And the lack of customizable hotkeys stroke as the software was unprofessional.
But more discussions like this will show the importance of such simple functionality somehow missed by Autodesk guys.
All the years I've been doing a little software development and network analysis, I've learned two major points.
#1 Everyone works differently. Eg. I personally dislike the right-click gesture menu... I never use it, and I'd rather have the right-click perform the orbit command. I personally find the 'S' key keyboard hotkey 1000x way more useful (Thanks!!!! for whom ever thought that one up).
#2 Adept users usually find the keyboard more efficient. I understand the need to standardize on a user interface... it keeps things consistent, but there are certain actions (or combinations of actions) that a sometimes the UI designers overlook. So having some kind of customization and minor scripting can really improve an individuals particular work flow.
Instead of using the tiny camera position cube, I would like to manipulate the camera with the numeric keypad. 5 takes you home, 4 and 6 orbits 1/8 right and left. 8 and 2 orbits 1/8 up and down. 1 3 7 and 9 orbits you in the diagonal direction. + - for zoom. Finally the 0 and "." can be used for rotation. While in text entry mode, the keypad should behave as normal digits.
I'm not sure what I'd do wth the function keys yet, but they are begging for custom actions. 🙂
you should assign number pad buttons to ortho views ie num 1 = front , num2 = rightview , or have the abiblity to assign your own hotkeys for this and other funtions , this could speed up the workflow for people who use keyboard shortcut , and should add more keyboard shortcut for ,
many other 3d cad software have assigned views to button ,
