Better Constraints and Dimensions.

 I tried to draw a part from some reference sizes today and found it very difficult because I was unable to add some constrains and dimensions. I've drawn the part in another system very easily here are some of the problems.

1. No perpendicular constraint to a circle. Example from other program.

2. No dimension from a line to the circumference of a circle or between circle edges.

3. No automatic projection of axis when adding dimensions or constrains.

4. Automatic projection when dimensioning would be more useful if the lines created were construction lines.

5. A way to draw construction geometry without having to draw as normal lines first. Maybe a toggle so you either draw normal or construction.

While all of these can be dealt with by drawig additional construction lines, having to first draw a normal line and then convert it into a construction line to then dimension as desired really adds insut to injury!

Thus I find #5 to be the highest priority in the list.

Separating vertical and horizontal constraint would also be helpful. Just as it is in Inventor. At present its not clear how to toggle between horizontal or vertical when placing a constraint.

I was very surprised you couldn't do a perpendicular constraint to an arc/circle when I first found F360.
I learned that you are expected to constrain the centerpoint of the arc to the line using a coincedent constraint. This will put the line perpendicular to the arc. I still get annoyed every time I have to do this and definitely think you should be able to use the perpendicular constraint.

Thank you for your ideas, I am changing this to future consideration.  I want to be very clear, there are 5 ideas here and while they are all good ideas I am only considering 2 and 5 for future consideration.  Both dimensioning to a circles edge (tangent) and the ability to select construction before adding geometry are in our backlog.  As for the rest of the ideas, consider them archived.

It kind of boggles my mind how something like this is being classified as a future consideration. Are there any other cad programs that can't dimension to a tangent? I love new things, but maybe it's time to start making sure the basics have been implemented before building on a poor foundation.
