I would like to see Fusion add native support for Swiss-type lathes, including post processors for Citizen L-series machines. From my experience, Fusion already has most of the toolpaths needed to program the majority of Swiss parts. Standard turning and milling operations work well, and features such as Subspindle Grab and Bar Pull are already available. There may be some specialized Swiss applications that require new toolpath strategies, but I believe those represent the exception rather than the rule. The two biggest obstacles I've heard regarding Swiss support are: Fusion does not currently provide machine simulation for turning. However, that limitation also exists for conventional lathes, and Fusion still offers robust post processors for those machines. Fusion does not support true multi-channel programming. As an interim solution, I think Autodesk could provide Swiss post processors that include additional post properties to configure the machine's MCData settings, while allowing programmers to insert synchronization codes using Pass-Through Manual NC. As long as the sync codes are properly matched between the main and subspindle setups, this approach would make basic Swiss programming possible without waiting for full multi-channel support. I've been modifying a post processor for a Citizen L32-X, although it still requires significant work before it's production-ready. I've added post properties that replicate the MCData page as closely as possible. I've attached the latest version in case anyone wants to use portions of it or help develop it into a fully functional post. CAUTION: This post is a work in progress and should only be used as a starting point. It has not been thoroughly tested and should not be relied upon for production without careful verification. I've heard that Swiss support is on Fusion's roadmap, and I hope it becomes a higher priority. Fusion is light-years ahead of PartMaker in terms of user interface, workflow, and overall usability. With just a bit more development effort, I believe it could become an excellent platform for programming Swiss machines, even if the initial implementation focuses on basic capabilities.
