Hello everyone,
I recently bought a CNC lathe as a hobby and I run it on some days. I can write programs manually and use ShopTurn without problems. However, I would like to try using Autodesk Fusion, at least for testing purposes.
The problem is that I couldn’t find a postprocessor suitable for my machine. I’m not sure if the ones available in the Fusion library will work with my setup.
Machine: DMG CTX 210, with C-axis
Control unit: Siemens 840D Powerline
The lathe is quite an old model. 2006
Fusion appears to be free for amature users. I asked the local reseller for support, but they didn’t help and told me I would need to purchase the program. At the moment, I’m not in a position to buy it — I just want to do some test cuts.
My questions are:
Will the standard Fusion 360 postprocessors work with this machine?
Or is a custom solution required?
What’s the best approach for hobby users like me in this situation?
If anyone has experience running Fusion 360 with a similar lathe, I’d really appreciate your advice.
Thanks 🙏
