Single face groove/trace in turning

It would be great to have the option to create a single face groove. If for example you have a custom insert and you want to machine this in one single move or even a peck move, this is not possible.

Maybe the operation should be something like a Trace operation for turning. So you can have full manual control over the toolpath

Is face grooving not available for turning in HSM Works?

Multiple pass Face grooving is. But using a 4mm insert to do a 4mm wide face groove isn't simple.

Can someone show me how this can be accomplished?  I can't figure it out!

@dougied03 It depends what you are trying to achieve... the best I have got is two passes basically overlapping: 2.9mm insert into a 2.9mm groove.

Yeah, that would be great. My customer is now waiting for a year for this functionality

Now that the Partmaker team is developing turning in HSM/Fusion, you will be seeing new features coming. The single face groove is on the list.

We recently added:

• Edge break on part-off
• Go below center for part-off and facing
• multiple passes on chamfer
• more control on OD/ID groove depths
• safe Z enhancements
