Project member with Viewer role can't visualize PDF file

Hello everyone,

I am facing a problem of visualization with PDF files for the Viewer role project members.

It is very annoying as we need to share drawings and documents with external persons and we do not want to give them the Editor role.

I have already tried to download and upload the files several times but without success.

If I am not mistaking, the Viewer role project members do not have the permission to download files.

However, I have noticed that word files (doc, docx) have no problem of visualization for Viewer role project as they generate an automatic download of a PDF from the word file.

As we share some documents but also some drawings in PDF can I ask you which kind of extension files you recommend for Viewer role project members?

I have already asked this question on a post that has been already solved in the forum regarding a problem of visualization on Fusion Team (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-team-forum/can-t-visualize-file/m-p/7020362/highlight/false), but as it has already been set to solved perhaps it is better to create a new one.

Hello Miguel, 

Thanks for taking time out to share your feedback with us.  This is a known limitation for PDF files and something that the team is  working on resolving. There is no ETA at this time, but I will pass your feedback on to the team.  The Viewer for PDF files allows download when set as a viewer role and so it was disabled.   One possible temporary workaround would be to use the actual CAD files, or use DWF, or DWFx files.

Is there a way to list which users have a viewer role in projects?

The only way I found is to enter in every project to check manually.

Hi Miguel,

The only way to see the Viewer role is to go to each project. You can see Project Contributors in the Admin panel, but it does not display the sub role of viewer.

This is a great suggestion, can you post it to our Idea board. That is where we capture ideas on new features as well as enhancements on existing features. Once posted, others can add comments and vote on it. That will give us an idea of what people would like to see in future versions of A360.
