hi

I'm just trying to scale a group of lines but they distort , when I try to scale them..

basic lines   is the contents of a basic sketch

This is what happens when I try tip scale it.  I actually wanted to make it 30% scale, but it distorts if I try to make it smaller of large.

what am I doing wrong?

Hi @StephenCim-001,

Thank you for posting! Could you share a public link to the design with me? I'd like to take a closer look at it.

If you edit the spline using the handles it will no longer scale correctly. Easy test, just sketch a spline picking points then scale and it should work fine, now edit a couple or the handles and try scaling and it will go haywire.

Edit. Only workaround is to extrude then scale the solid.

OK, so is this a bug or 'by design' ?

Extrude then scale the body will not work for me has, I project these curves on to a curves surface, then split and push to form an inlay,

Extrude then cut would need extra steps to produce the same end result has a project, split,push.. 🙂

I managed a work around for my current project , I'll try the extrude, reshape end, more extrude with cut next time 🙂

Actually found another solution, convert the current curves to construction curves then lay a new spline over the to and don't touch the spline adjusters and delete the old curves 🙂

I'm a novice at best so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you have one or more constraints on your sketch - so Fusion is trying to scale the some of your sketch without violating the constraint(s) of some parts. If you had a triangle with only one constraint - the base is 50mm say - and you try to scale it, Fusion will let you lengthen or shorten the sides, but the base can't exceed 50mm and your triangle will distort.
