What happend to the wood appearances in Fusion 360?

I went to apply a wood appearance in Fusion 360 today and I noticed there is a bunch of wood appearances no longer there.

The physical material is there, but no appearance material (i.e. MDF).

Hi @Megabytecl

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are missing some wood appearances in Fusion 360.

It is possible that materials you previously downloaded where lost in an update to Fusion 360. Are the materials shown if you enable the "Show downloadable materials" flag in the Appearance dialogue shown below:showdwnldapp.png

I did notice that many of the wooden appearances are not downloaded by default in Fusion 360 - it is possible the flag was disabled at some point. If the flag is enabled, are you able to apply the physical material instead of an appearance? If you are missing appearances with the flag enabled, are they restored if you perform a clean uninstall and reinstall Fusion 360?

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions - I am happy to assist.

Yes.  The show downloadable materials is checked.  See attached JPG.

And what I mean with the physical material, is that I can apply a wood physical material to the solid body.  Say for instance MDF.  However the option to apply the appearance material to the solid body...well there is no MDF anymore.

I haven't tried uninstalling and re-installing.  Trying to avoid that hassle.

I will see if I have the same problem on my other laptop later tonight.

Hi @Megabytecl

Thanks for the response! For me, the "MDF Board" appearance was found under the Wood > Unfinished folder. Is this the appearance you are referring to, or was there another MDF material in Fusion at some point? I can't really remember what the options used to be, so it is possible that one was removed from Fusion.

You could always edit the appearance of a physical material to meet your needs in Fusion! To do so, right click the material in the top of the Physical Materials dialogue (underneath "In this design") and select "Edit," then "Advanced" when the next dialogue comes up. This will allow you to define a custom appearance to the physical materials in Fusion, if you would like to do so.

As the Appearances are re-written each time Fusion updates, I believe that, if you are missing the MDF Board appearance, the easiest way to get it back will be a clean uninstall and reinstall. Using the utility linked here usually takes me about 10 minutes.

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

I will try the reinstall when I get a chance.
