User parameter overwritten by value in circular pattern

I would like to use a unitless User Parameter to set the Quantity of a circular pattern feature repeats. This works on a first pass, but when I go to edit the circular pattern, I see that the User Parameter has been replaced by a constant value. This means that future changes to the User Parameter will not update the circular pattern, as the Quantity is now a hard-coded value. Please fix.

I do not see any issue with your described process.  Please attach a model which you have seen this problem for the forum users to troubleshoot.

I'm unable to share the specific part that is experiencing this issue, and in trying to create a minimum working example, I find that the erroneous behavior is not reproduced.

If you cannot reproduce the issue it maybe a good indicator that you need to take another look at the original model and see if something else is causing the issue.  One thing for sure, Autodesk cannot fix any issue that cannot be reproduced.

Accepted solution

After some investigation it appears that this is reproducible when the pattern is created while rolled back in the timeline.

  • For patterns created at the end of the timeline there is no bug.
  • For patterns created while rolled back, it apparently permanently breaks the pattern-parameter connection.

I encountered the same problem. In the screen cast I have isolated it down to the bare minimum.

User Parameter is NOT saved then typed into the Circular Pattern dialog box only the value.
No difference if Parameter name is typed in then creating the pattern or editing the pattern.

In the Parameter window I can edit the circular pattern parameter and add the user parameter directly and it gets saved.
