If I export things into 3mf and the thing contains e.g. wood texture the color is set to black in the 3mf file. I understand why the texture is not included. But setting it to black is a bad choice, because it removes every information e.g. in previews. Attached you find an example.

Thanks. This is a good improvement ticket to log, so that's done. While it's easy to apply another appearance to the black mesh, it seems like this could be exported in a more usable state.
What is it like bringing this file to another application, have you tried that?

The only application I have is a slicer and this would change the color but would also add a bunch of slicing information that I don't want to apply. For sure I could unzip the 3mf file, open it up in an text editor and change it by hand. But that's nothing I would want to do on a regular basis.

My only suggestion for now is to temporarily replace the textures before you export the mesh. That's pretty easy to do with the appearance workflow, and I realize it's a workaround, but for a few clicks you get a non-blackened 3mf file which may be worth the effort.
