how to get 2d Contour to "miss a section

I have a part that I am cutting out the 2d contour cut cuts into a flange. The Material under the flange gets cut from the other side so I am not worried about that but I need it to not cut into the flange. See pics. The blue line represents the line that I am cutting and the flange at the top gets cut when I try to cut the blue line.

It would be best to attach your model to your forum post.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section of a forum post to attach it.

This file is proprietary or I would, so I really cannot do that.

Create a demo example file, - trying to replicate the problem, often solves it.

However your original post, did not convey the problem clearly.

Might help....

Ok good deal that gives me a lot of help. I like how fast this forum gets answers back. On the Enroute software forum, it seems to take a lot longer.

I tried to make a new body and merge the two but I cannot get that to work either. Any suggestions?
