fusion not shutting down

after the last update, when i try to close fusion with an open file i am asked if i want to save, as usual, but after it saves the file fusion forgets that it should close. clicking the x in the upper right or using alt f4 works after any files are closed.

also, every update puts an unwanted shortcut on my desktop.

Hi @dlwfusion,

Thank you for your Post in the Forum.

It sounds like that the updates lead to an issue.

Could you may share more information about your OS,

there might be an permission issue with the AppData folder?

Another issue could be Antivirus Software and missing OS updates.

Thank you and best regards,

running windows 10 pro, up to date.

the only 'antivirus' installed is windows defender, with default configuration.

and to be clear, it does save my work perfectly. just after saving and *groan* uploading, the program will remain open.

after much playing around, it seems to only happen when i click on another program window before fusion finishing the saving/uploading operation.

I have always had the same problem on the MAC. If you exit and you have an unsaved document, you ask it to save and it pops up the saving dialog. If you ALT tab away it finishes saving but never exits. Funny thing is I see this same thing happen on a friend's PC yet I run a mac and get the same problem. There was someone asking about it on the facebook group too.

I assumed as it's not critical there are more important things to fix.

Hi @mianos @dlwfusion,

Thank you for sharing this.

I haven´t been able to reproduce this behavior but I would like to share this with the Development team.

Please, feel free to share as much information as possible.

Thank you,

its very consistent for me, happens with one or multiple monitors, other programs running or not.

as long as the saving/uploading dialog is up, any action that takes focus off fusion (alt-tab, clicking on the desktop, interacting with another open program) will make the saving/uploading dialog disappear, and fusion will remain open after it silently finishes uploading.

one more note, the problem happens when i take any action that takes focus off the saving dialog. so even clicking on the fusion 360 window during a saving operation will prevent fusion from shutting down after the save/upload is complete.

Hi @dlwfusion,

Thank you for the update.

The hang and freeze could be due to errors in the timeline which are not computed yet.

Could you may test this with a simple design, like a cube?

Please, see the post from my team mate @innovatenate who shared more insights here

I hope this information helps.

Thank you,

@dlwfusion Can you post a copy of your diagnostic log files? I'm curious to see if it is recording any errors regarding the save and exit process.

i just switched computers, so this is from a brand new install of windows, and a fresh copy of fusion.

the program still exhibits the same behavior.

Thanks for the log files. It doesn't look like there's much in there at the moment. I wasn't very clear before so I'll expand on my previous ask. Can you reproduce the issue where Fusion isn't shutting down when you save and then launch Fusion again and collect the log files?

From the current set of log files, it look like this is the first time you've launched Fusion on this install.

Just today I exited Fusion before a save was complete and received the save warning. It did take some time to complete the save, but the Fusion 360 did shut down on my machine. I'm really keen to look at these log files that may be recording the action of Fusion when the issue occurs. If I'm mistaken, just let me know. These things are a bit esoteric so please forgive any assumptions made in this post.

Looking forward to your reply!

Thanks,

created a new file, sketched a square, saved the file. extruded the sketch and tried to close the program. the save changes dialog comes up, i click save. if i dont do anything, the file will save in about 10 seconds and the program quits. however if i click anywhere besides the saving dialog box before it finishes, i can see the 'my recent data' pane update with the new save, but the program will remain open. i did wait for about two minutes just in case. hopefully this log will have a little more in it 🙂
