Emboss command

I am trying to emboss text with the new emboss command tool but cannot select the surface from which it has to be embossed.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to use the emboss tool on a curved surface ?

Hi,

Unfortunately, as you can read here, currently Emboss does not work for Sketch Text yet, but, we are working for addressing this soon.

Another current limitation is that emboss does not work on surfaces that are curved in two directions(eg. revolved spline). This should be also improved soon.

Regards,

Text is exploded but the revolved surface is curved in two direction.

Great if it is coming soon, I definitely need this option.

Hi @grishnakk thanks for reaching out.

In this release (August 2020) Emboss feature is supported on developable surfaces only. (Those surfaces which can be unwrapped without a distortion). So, when you see it not working, that is by design. A simple hint for the user is, such surfaces cannot be selected for creating Emboss.

What's new blog probably talks about a different Sketch Text command, otherwise a regular text is supported.
Here is a simple example - Emboss TextEmboss Text

Hi,

Emboss doesn´t work on double curved faces.

I found a small work around.

1.copy and paste the body you wish to emboss.

2.create a sketch and extrude into one of the copies

3.select the push/pull function and select the faces you wish to "emboss".

not an exact emboss but serves my purpose for detailing a curved wall feature.

Still one problem remains:

The push pulled face is following the first extrude operation rather than perpendicular to the double curve surface.

Any update on a fix for this? Still doesn't work 2 years later. 😞

Error shown is:

Error: Sketch profiles create a self-intersecting body. Adjust depth of emboss or size of sketch profile.
