Crashing when Opening File

Every time I attempt to open a certain file, Fusion instantly crashes on me. The file thumbnail gets a blue spinning wheel in front of it, then it's game over. I'm not sure how to resolve this, as I've never encountered an issue like this that I couldn't find a workaround for. It appears as though I can open other files, but I cannot access older versions of the file of interest either. Has anyone experienced this or ran into anything similar?

Thanks,

Jon

@ryan.bales,

I tried opening the file; Fusion did not crash. Progress! However, the file still refuses to open. I've attached a capture of the message that popped up in the bottom corner as a consolation.

Let me know if there is anything I should try next.

Thanks,

Jon

Can you check your logs for any further explanation?

@ryan.bales

I clicked on (?) > Support and Diagnostics > Diagnostic Log Files

To be honest, I don't really know what I'm looking at in the .zip folder that appeared. Where should I be looking and what should I be looking for?

Go ahead and upload that .zip. Its been truncated to remove sensitive information.

The applog path looks like this - Your RED text will be different:

Autodesk Fusion 360\D6TEKKBAGW7B\logs

Open the latest log and look for errors - typically at the bottom.

@ryan.bales

Thank you. All I really notice is it mentions that the file is corrupt, but that may be the copied file that I tested. I attached the .zip folder and the latest log file.

Thanks,

Jon

That's what i see too. What about the following:

  • Can you open on your hub?
    • if so can you export it?
  • Can you open an older version?

@ryan.bales

Sorry for the delayed response; I had to leave work and did not get  a chance to try all the things you recommended. I checked this morning and I received an email over the weekend from @masa.minohara stating that the bug has been sorted out with the latest Fusion update. So far, everything seems to be functioning as normal and the problem appears to be fixed.

Thank you, all, for all your help,

Jon

Hi @georgethund ,

My issue was due to a specific update wherein files with loft commands would crash upon attempting to open them. As you can see from the conversation, this bug was resolved with the following update in 2018. If you are having trouble, I'd recommend opening a new thread on this board if you can't find anything else similar. Be as thorough as can when describing the issue and try to be polite so that the real people that work at Autodesk will be inclined to want to help you. Hope you get it figured out!

Best,

Jon

Hi!
I'm getting the same results.
When opening one of the projects I used to work with previously, Fusion crashes on me.
(report ID 704691098)
Error: Access violation - code c0000005 (first/second chance not available)
Crashed Module Name: NaParaMesh10.dll
Exception Address: 0x00007ff9be213450
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Flags: 0
Exception Parameters: 0, 88

Interestingly enough, older versions of the same project as well as other projects are able to open up without any problems.

Do you know about any solution to open up the project or at least export the geometry into a STEP file?

Thanks.
David
