Workflow: Make it so click selects body or component versus face?

When ever I am working in Fusion360 and I want to move something I almost never want to move the face of something... I always am moving a body or component... but by default when you click an object it selects its face... is there a trick to select the whole body.

I tried holding ctrl + click and shift + click but it doesn't do that... if the feature does not exist there should be a way to improve the workflow without me needing to go to the browser and then select the body / component before clicking M for move.

Also when I double click it selects parent component... so that may work for components not in a parent but if its a body in a component it wont.

Hello Jeff,

Would changing your selection priority fix this, so it selects a body instead of a face?

On the Ribbon in the Design workspace, click Select > Selection Priority > Select Body Priority

That does kind of help but then it makes it so I can not select faces which is a problem... It would be cool if Fusion360 made it so that we could have a thing like ctrl + alt + click or some thing to select whole body... because I need to select faces alot as well... thanks though for that... I did not know that existed!

No problem!

Another thing is you can assign keyboard shortcuts to any of these commands. Mouse-over the right-edge of the command and 3 dots will appear. From there you can assign any shortcuts to the commands if it makes your workflow any quicker.

Here's the help page to explain how to do it:

Nice! I didn't think of that, being able to assign keyboard shortcut to switch between face priority and body selection priority would work great depending on which workflow mode I am in.

Thanks @shabbir.abdulhussein!

Selecting a vertex, an edge or a face will implicitly also select the body (follow the bread crumb highlighting in hte browser), unless you use the move dialogue which might then default to faces. But without seeing how you work, perhaps in a shared design, or screencast  that would indicate a sub optimal workflow.

To select a component you'll have to double-click on the object in the viewport.
