When I insert a drawing into a new design some parts are not aligned. I have the components aligned and set in a SAVED file within a project. Everything looks great. Then I insert the same file it into a new drawing a some of the components are way out of alignment and are moved into random locations. Any thoughts?

Thanks !

I'm still learning this app, but a couple of things come to mind.

  1. Is your drawing fully constrained (so all black lines and a red lock icon on the sketch in the browser)?
  2. If you orbit while editing the drawing, are all of the lines actually on the drawing plane, or does that reveal that some of them are in different places in 3D space?
  3. Most of all, if you upload the file you are copying from, someone can actually take a look and tell you what's going on.

in the design you are inserting, do you see this UI at the top of the toolbar?

If so, that means that some components in this design are not in their "home" positions.  If you click on the one on the left, it will insert a "Capture Position" feature in this design, and hopefully when you insert it, it will keep those positions.  Designs save in this "Capture Position Pending" state will not include those un-captured positions when inserted into another design
