Project to solid

Irrespective what I try I cannot project a sketch to a solid

I have mimicked every tutorial but for evey try I get the following error

> Make a body

> Move in Y plane

>Constuct offset plane

> Draw sketch

> 

"Not support projecting sketch geometry into same sketch, please change the target sketch or geometry."

Correct, you can’t Project a sketch to a solid.

what tutorial?  

You can use project to surface, but that means you have to build a 3d sketch as the destination sketch, and a source sketch containing what you want to Project.  Two sketches, no solids.

What is it you want to do?

What happens if you:

Start new sketch on the part face.

Then Project the circle from previous sketch?

Sorry if my terminology was a little loose

Project a sketch to a face (surface) is what I am trying to do

The "project a sketch to a sketch on the surface" suggested above worked, but this is not how the above turtorial shows it or even the method " Create>Project/Include>Project to Surface" in F360

The tip tools are simply Faces = "Select face, surface feature or plane to project on". (In other words the face of the body,) and Curves = Select sketch geometries, edges, vertices, or workpoints to project"

As I said whatever combination I do results in the error as shown on the attached screen shot

The problem is an old video with the old UI. The sketch command works a little different now. What you need to do now is starting with your sketch and body that you have now, select create sketch and select any plane, it doesn't matter what one, select project to surface and select the face that you want to project to and then select the sketch that you want to project. You need to have a new separate sketch from the original one in order to project.
