Many of you have been wishing and waiting for dark mode for a long time, so we hope you'll be excited to know the rumors in the community are true: UI Theme (aka dark mode) is finally coming to Autodesk Fusion.

We’ve been working hard to get you the ability to switch themes in Fusion and we’ll soon be making it a preview feature, available to try as part of a staggered rollout. This means that not everyone will get access to the preview at first, but more and more of you will eventually get access as we continue to mature the experience.  This way we can ensure the functionality is working in tip-top shape when it becomes available to everyone.

To check if you have access, Go to your Preferences > Preview Features > UI Theme. If you see the UI Themes Preview option, checking it and then clicking on “Apply” will turn the option for you to change themes. Navigate to General section of your preferences. You should now see a Theme option. Change from Fusion Classic to Dark Blue and click “OK” and you should be ready to go.

Note: If you previously changed the Display Settings Environment to a different canvas color, your previous settings will be retained.  To have the canvas color follow your chosen UI Theme, go to Navigation Bar > Display Settings > Environment and select Theme (default).

We’re still actively developing this feature, and we want your feedback

As stated above, theme switching is not done; we are actively improving the experience. Due to the expansive nature of Fusion and all the workspaces, we’ve primarily focused on fleshing out the Design workspace and the most common workflows. We want to make sure dark mode works well for every aspect of Fusion, across macOS or Windows, and with whatever machine you’re on.

If you try dark mode and see any weird behaviors or issues, please report them here. Screenshots are highly useful. Our developers are watching and engaging with you; what you submit will help us prioritize future improvements.

Thank you for your help and support!

Ok gotcha. This may be a known issue, but we'll make sure to have it captured. As for the display environment, I was referring to this. I believe you have it set at Photo Booth, but if you want your environment to match the dark blue, you can set it to Theme (default). The reason why it didn't do this automatically is because Fusion honors your existing display environment setting if you explicitly changed it to Photo Booth or other environments that is not Theme.

I'm not sure what you mean by photo booth. I don't have anything like that. My system is fairly locked down. I tried searching, but there's nothing in windows referencing that option/feature. I'm running Windows 11 24H2 without any custom OS updates.

Not Windows, I mean in Fusion, in the navigation bar at the bottom of the Fusion application window, like the screenshot I shared in my previous post.

Text in sketch.  Icons for "Typeface" hardly visible.  If there is a box around "Text" field it is not visible.

Sorry, I missed that post. I set that, then set it to blue, it still occurred; however, on reloading the app, everything looks good now. Thank you for that work-around. 🙂

What about the actual design space being dark instead of white? Is that also coming?

To do that you need to go just above the timeline at the bottom and select display settings-> Environment -> Theme (default) or River Rubicon.

The update seemed to reset my theme setting back to Fusion Classic.
I noticed that upon first applying the dark theme again after the update that the top corner buttons (file, data panel, save, extensions, etc) all remained white, but with the light icons. Restarting fusion fixed this.

The linked component icons and component context menu icons are still very hard to make out.

jordan783ZS_1-1742948555842.png

A lot of the command icons are still very washed out; the emboss command in particular has very little contrast.

Overall, though definitely a lot of great improvements in the new update.

I am still unable to see/select cycle component color on the 4k monitor.

Also when changing appearances of faces/bodies it is very hard to see which faces have been selected.

Thanks!

Pretty difficult telling the difference between browser items and the background. Very similar colors:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 8.24.46 AM.png

And like with all the other rushed releases this button becomes unclickable after a while:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 8.30.44 AM.png

No I didn't click and drag my mouse to move this item in the browser. No I can't click the escape key to exit out of the move:Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 8.31.39 AM.png

Now it's just stuck in limbo lol:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 8.33.53 AM.png

And now in the manufacturing environment: At least it's not stuck maybe I can drag it off screen or something:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 8.38.41 AM.png

@keqingsong if you have screen sharing enabled can I just drag it to your screen?

4 bugs in 5 minutes. My work day is 450 minutes. 360 bugs a day seems a bit excessive for a multiple industry standard fortune 500 company.

I have work to do can you guys stop rushing every update out? If it's not easily reproducible it doesn't get logged. Which means this program keeps getting buggier.

This is probably too transparent. Makes the text hard to read:

And IDK if this is supposed to look all gargled up or what:

Maybe don't use preview features if you can't deal with bugs.

The 4 bugs I talked about exist when literally turning every preview feature off. They just also exist with the new UI theme alpha

When hovering my mouse over something in the browser it looks like the expected behavior is for the item to change to a slightly darker color like so:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 9.39.24 AM copy.png

But sometimes when selecting items in the browser it'll stay that color instead of this color that it's supposed to be:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 9.41.15 AM.png

Happens either when selecting just one item in the browser but also when selecting multiple items in the browser; The last item will be the slightly darker blueish grey, not the more blue grey it's supposed to be.

When renaming things in the browser the old text can be seen:

Text tool:

No text box + typeface options not dark enough, difficult to see:

Screenshot 2025-03-26 at 10.14.53 AM.png

Typeface options only stick when moving mouse away:
