Hi Folks...

Trying to jog my dimension and after extensive Google:ing I´m not much wiser... please help me out here.

If you take a look att the attached JPG you´d see what I´m looking for.

Hi @petrol_junkie,

Thank you for posting! I'm not sure if Fusion has the ability to do that with the Dimension command but I'll check internally and  let you know as soon as I have more information.

In the meantime, could you try using the Leader command instead and manually enter the value?

Hi @petrol_junkie,

I just learnt that the diameter dimension style is based on the standard used for the drawing, ASME (leader-style) or ISO (aligned). You can’t switch between the two. The Standard will also affect other settings like projection angle, some of these can be overridden in Properties, which will apply to new drawings, not existing.

Hopefully this information helps!

Hi @masa.minohara

Thanks for your reply.

Entering values manually, for me, is strictly forbidden. Since the drawing wont update with the model. (Fusion does do that right?)

Ah ok... well that´s not really a solution since ISO and ASME uses different angles of projection, which renders the drawings pretty much useless in this part of the world.

I'm not sure what it is you are trying to do. But a simple sketch and extrude might help. Or if you are apply the dimensions to a sketch plane, a face plane or a plane. All of the above apply different and can be manipulated. ANOTHER THING IF YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO A THREADING TO A FLAT SQUARE PIECE LIKE IN THE VIDEO FROM THE USER MISHTA, USE THE HOLE TOOL IN THE TOOL BAR TO ENTER HOLE DIMENSIONS AND THE FOLLOW WITH THE APPLICATION OF THE THREAD TOOL TO THE INSIDE OF THE HOLE PLANE. THE HOLE SIZE CAN BE CHANGED TO FIT DIMENSIONS AND THE THREAD SIZE CONTAINS A LIST OF COMMON DIMENSIONS AND CUSTOM DIMENSIONS.

To quote " trying to jog my dimensions" you have to use the sketch tool in the tool bar. The sketch adds a sketch plane where you have to decide the sketch plane. Side X, side Y or side Z. And then you use the tools like line, spline, circle etc.

I pretty sure you misunderstood my question.

Take a look at the attached JPG in my first post, should explain what I´m looking for.

Ok I understand what you are looking for.

Sketch plainSketch plain

Working in the Sketch plain use the SKETCH DIMENSIONS tool in the sketch menu, keyboard shortcut D.

Sometimes you may have problems attaching the proper locations for that use the POINT tool in the sketch menu to place coordination point for Grid and Snap settings.

Then just as I thought. You might want to right click on the corresponding sketch and click SHOW DIMENSIONS.

That way you'll be able to see the information while working on other sketches and objects.

We are still not quite on the same playing field here...

What I am trying to do, in drawing mode, is to have my diameter dimension text in a horisontal position instead of colinear with the line from the dimensioned hole.

Hence my title to this thread: Jog the dimension.

Horisontal dimension instead of colinear.Horisontal dimension instead of colinear.

Hi petrol_junkie,

The short answer is, what you're trying to do is not possible. In the drawing environment, the dimension style is based on the standard used for the drawing, ASME (which includes leader-style diameter dimensions) or ISO (aligned diameter dimensions). You can’t switch between the two or modify the style of an individual dimension.

If you create a new drawing using the ASME standard/mm units, you'll get these dimensions but you'll also get the Ansi sheet size instead of ISO.  In Preferences some of the default settings, like projection angle can be overridden, but this doesn't get into dimension styles.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi @cmiller66

Yeah, that was my conclusion as well....

We do use the ISO standard here in Sweden but we do deviate...

But really... theese are things that you should be able to choose while making the drawing.

The lack of options in Fusion/Drawings are significant.

Thank you for your reply.

In that case I am going to assume that you simply did not follow the instructions from the previous comment. Unless you are attempting to use the app in an impossible function. Another demonstration with an attemp to imitate your request.

Just for my personal goal for experience I have added a few spline and extraterrestrial vertices

You are clearly describing an issue with an app that has nothing to do with the Fusion 360 app

Grand finale. Granted you understand how the sketch layers, history and planes work. This applies to just adjusting the dimensions on the current plane, and again in order to display the dimensions when the sketch is not getting edited must be enabled to "show...". With the left mouse button select the dimension, and while holding the keyboard button "Alt" drag the dimension to the corrected position with the left mouse button.

It has already been established that Fusion does not have the funtionality that I´m looking for.

And as a small pointer once again, it is not inte the sketch I want to jog the dimension it is in the drawing document.

Thank you for your efforts.

Anyway. You didn't describe your issue. I get it now. You need to work in the Drawing plane. And again the app provides you with all the necessary tools. Like it or not just like described above. And yes if you are a mechanical engineer inputting manual results in the app is a requirement. This was already described in the past. And you can not work your dimensions from the environment. The only reason they added short dimensions is for mark up and measurement. So I still do not believe in your issue here.
