Modifing a dxf file

I am new to Fusion 360.  I imported a dxf file of an eliptical gear into Fusion 360.  It came in ok but it will only allow me to mdify the holes as if they are the solid object.  The file had two layers when it was originall made so I merged the two layers and saved it as a different file.  When I imported it into Fusion 360 it acts the same.  Is there some way to change the areas that are allowed to be modified?  Do I need to do something else to the dxf file in a Autocad to get it to come into Fusion 360 properly?

Can you File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here?

While you are at it - attach the original *.dxf too.

I am attaching two files.  The original Elliptical gear dxf file and the Fusion 360 file that was created by importing the dxf file into Fusion 360.  I would appreciate any help solving my issue

Your DXF is fully of gaps in segments of the teeth.  Clean these up and it will extrude without issue.  I used Inventor to close the gaps because I know how to do it quickly but may use another method.  I attached the DWG file I created from your DXF and I included the Fusion 360 file as well.  The screencast is just proof for your information.

Thank you so very much for solving my problem.  I was not expecting you to clean it up but it is extremely appreciated.  I could not see the gaps and will look at the drawing closer to figure out what to look for in future drawings.  Thanks a million!!
