I've designed a 3d design on 3ds max and opened it on fusion 360 as stl file and when I try to make a simulation for this design it disappears. so please what's this problem and how it can be solved?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for posting! Can you please post your the .stl file that you are using as well as the fusion file (.f3d) file that you are performing the simulation on?

When you say "it disappears", do you mean the model is not visible after the simulation? Or is the model not visible when you enter the simulation workspace? Can you please provide a screenshot as well. Thank you in advance!

Thanks,

thanks for your reply,

actually I overcame this problem but the problem that I'm facing now is that when I try to run simulation of the program it give me and error message saying meshing error phase :solid meshing ,description:self intersection.

and the simulation can't be completed

and the designed was designed on 3ds max so when I try to get the f3z file it gives me a warning message that i can't export files which have referenced components.

the stl files and the 3ds file are attached.

Hi, I am not seeing any error messages on my end... Can you send me a link your design? This way you do not have to export it and I will be able to download it on my end! see this link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How... In the meantime, you might also want to try Looking for small mesh elements or interferences in the model that may cause the meshing to fail. More information at this link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Err... Thanks,

thanks for replying,

actually the steps that i follow are the following:

first after inserting the design I turn of capture design history and then I go to mesh and reduce the number of faces in the design then I return to the model panel and choose mesh to BRep and then go to simulation

choose the faces that will be constrained and the one that i will apply forces to, choose the materials and then choose solve and it gives me this error message

the link of design :

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for the information! I didn't see any loads/forces applied in your setup. Are you including any?

Also, I'm thinking the simulation is going to run slow just based based on your model. You may want to try to do OBJ with quad faces, and make it smooth from 3ds max. In Fusion you'd then have to go to preferences, mesh workspace, and disable the triangulate on import and Then bring into t-spline ->flatten and merge some of those surfaces, especially where you will be doing a lot of constraints and loading. This design is very complex.

Let me know if you have any questions on this!
