How to recover custom thread definitions from project files.

Hello,

I have a set of drawings / designs where I used my custom defined threads.

I had to replace my laptop and started with new installation of Fusion 360 - so the definitions are gone.

These threads are still in my drawings are rendered correctly but no longer the thread feature can be edited.

Is there a way to recover these custom defined threads from my project files?

No, you'll need a copy of the XML file. Is your old computer still working and can you get a copy from there?

No unfortunately it's not available.

I thought since the design can be rendered properly there is a copy of the
parameters applied to the threading modifier in the project file so that it
can be recovered from there ...
Maybe there is a way to do that by directly working on a project file (I'm
looking for any kind of hack).

Thanks

Pretty sure if you open the 3d model and edit the thread you'll get an error, don't think any real info on the thread is stored. At least that's what it seems to say here about opening a design on a computer without the custom thread XML.

Yes you get an error when you try to edit that feature because no longer
there's a reference to that custom thread definition and the UI does not
allow you to enter all the thread parameters but anyway it is still able to
render that shape.

So I believe there must be a copy of each individual parameter defined in
the custom thread XML also in the project file (otherwise sharing and
collaboration would not be possible) and if that's true then there must be
a way to get I out of it.

Thanks

Did you read the link in my last post? It says if anyone opens a design that doesn't have the custom XML file they will get an error and if you've customised a standard thread XML the thread will change to one of the standard ones so no there is no info in the design. And as you say you can not collaborate or share a design without the custom XML. You are not going to be able to get the information from the 3d design you need to recreate the XML from scratch, what threads do you need?
