Problem Installing Fusion 360

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently installed a trial version of Fusion 360. I have been busy with other things and did not use it for the last 2 weeks when I came back to it, it would not load. So I downloaded the trial version again. It loaded but with no top bar giving my name and the time period of the trial. As I wish to gain access to the free start-up, it is very frustrating as to where the top bar has gone. Any suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Hmm, that sounds definitely strange. Do you mind posting a screenshot of what you are seeing regarding the top bar? I am curious if it go minimized however. If you look in the top right hand of corner of Fusion (for Windows only I believe), there should be a little arrow where you can collapse the top menus.

Thanks for your reply.
Screen shot attached, the top bar, with name, trial period, help arrow, and
all the icons on the left are just not there.

Hi @Anonymous,

I found out that this is a known issue that we are looking at. We recently just removed the drop down arrow that I was referring to and as a result, some users are stuck like yourself. Check out my post here that has some more information.

Thanks,

Hi James.

I tried the solution below and no it did not work, still the same.

I just noticed this option was missing as well. Let's try this - although
it will reset your customizations.

- Open Windows Explorer
- Close Fusion
- Enable hidden folders from Control Panel
- Navigate to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Neutron
Platform\Options\
- Locate NULastDisplayedLayout.xml
- Rename to NULastDisplayedLayout.bak
- Relaunch Fusion 360

Does it appear now?

Hi @Anonymous,

At this time, the only immediate workaround I know of is a clean uninstall and reinstall, although (as mentioned) it seems a bit overkill. If you want to proceed, I suggest making sure all of your data is backed up to A360 first as the clean uninstall utility will wipe all of your offline cache data. Once it is:

  • Restart your computer
  • Download and run our Clean Uninstall utility here
  • Download and install Fusion from this link here

That should restore that file menu. Let me know if that worked.

Hi James.

I did as you suggested and the problem is still there.

Would I be better off attempting a manual clean rather than an auto clean?

Hi James.

I just downloaded Fusion 360 to my Laptop with the same result. The laptop has never had 360 placed onto it before, this was a brand new installation, which would suggest that the problem is with my account. Very frustrating.

Hi James.

I did a manual uninstall,  reinstalled, and bingo, problem solved.
