Move face

Hi,

I am new to Fusion 360 and can't figure out how to translate a face sideways.

It only lets me move it along the Z-axis but not along the X and Y

@holycause I believe you want to move the entire cylinder sideways. If so set the Move Object option to Bodies in the Move/Copy dialog.

Are you trying to create a skewed cylinder?  Move Face will not allow that.  It only allows you to move the face in ways that the existing adjacent faces can be extended to meet the new position.  So, translation along the face normal, and some rotations.

You will have to create the shape you want from the beginning - you cannot use Move Face to make arbitrary changes to the body.

Is there another mode that you can skew like that? Make a shape, grab a face and skew it?

@kench06

Can you post a hand sketch of what you want to model.

I am sure there is a way, but it might be a different technique than you are thinking.
