Motion Link is broken [BUG]

Hey guys,

It's not new, I thought it was fixed in the last version, but it wasn't!

Sometimes it's working and sometimes not. In general the joints are cranky lately!

Cheers / Ben

Hi @Beyondforce,

Hmm, I don't think I'm familiar with this bug. Have you already reported this? I can look into this with our team and see what might be going on.

Thanks,

Hey @James.Youmatz,

I can't explane it, but this morning I had no issues with the Motion Link. But that's the thing, it's not stable, sometimes it's working and sometimes not. There was an update few hours ago, maybe it triggered something.

Yesterday, I created ML between gear A & B, then tried to create a ML between B & C. Not only it didn't work, but it also broke the ML between A & B. I guess it's my lucky day and I hope it will stay like this, because I have a lot more Joints to create!

Cheers / Ben.

I would like to know what's wrong with my workflow, my Fusion or with the tool itself.

It doesn't work for me.

Well, it seems like the Motion Link is broken!
What worked for me was, recreating the joints and then recreating the Motion Link. But still, the Motion Link is definitely is broken.

@James.Youmatz, can you help!?

Its not you, its Fusion. There are all kinds of instabilities with the software including the joints solver.

Hi @admaiora,

Yea, that does seem strange. I'd love to take a deeper peek. Can you share the file with me so I can test and log a bug if there is one? As @Beyondforce mentioned earlier - this is tricky to capture on our end as it isn't very easy to reproduce.

Thanks,

Hi @James.Youmatz ,

thanks for the support.

It's not  a singular case, the tool doesn't work at all.

It can be reproduce in anytime in any case, just trying to use the Motion Link and trying to make it work.

Here a video starting from 0.

Attached the file.

Thanks!

Hi @admaiora,

No worries, figured it was you 🙂

Anyways, got some weeiiirrrd results. It works just fine for me after initial upload...

I'll try creating this from scratch to see if it has something to do with that, but can you please try uploading the file you posted and trying the motion link and seeing if that worked. If it does, then it may be something to do with the capture position - I'd have to check. If it does not, then we know it is something specific to your machine configuration and we would have to dig deeper into this.

Thanks,

hank you @James.Youmatz

yes, the doubt was:

-is it my workflow?

-is it Fusion?

-is it my Fusion in my machine?

What about you @Beyondforce ?

It is an issue with Fusion. I have experienced it more than one. I remember times when it worked just fine. It started about two updates ago.

HI guys,

I'll keep experimenting, but I followed @admaiora's video to the T (building it from scratch) and I still could use motion link on my first try. I'm not too sure what might be different in our use cases - I'll examine the video to see if I missed anything. Can you guys please post your machine specs so I can try to nail down if it is specific to something? Peripherals included too please. Something strange is going on and I'm not too sure why I can't reproduce this on my machine at the moment, but I'll keep trying.

Thanks,

I have tested the same issue with other pc ( 6 machines).

All with the lastes version of Fusion.

This summer before last updates the files with motion link worked fine.

Now i can open them, they have the motion link, but doesn't work.
