I don't agree with the engineering challenges of maintaining the classic theme, and certainly not the "high resource cost." I'm saying this as a former product manager of an enterprise piece of software used internationally. It's not like the UI is changed every day requiring changing hard coded values. Moving to style sheet-like variables is great. Give us a style sheet that looks like the classic theme. That should be pretty simple. Heck, one day some manager is going to say orange is good and a style sheet for orange will be developed.
Lance, you're abandoning a group of users who have trouble with the grayness and thin fonts by not providing a way for them to easily use the product. Please put Classic back while you create a theme, using whatever method you're using, that looks like the classic theme. I'll be happy to be a tester if you need one as I really have a hard time looking at all the gray stuff on the screen.
