mesh to body

Hello,

I have a 3D scan that I want to use. it certainly needs cleaning up/repair. I tried all three ways to convert to a body, but none will work.

trying to fix in mesh has not worked for me- BUT I have done almost nothing in the mesh area so don't know what I'm doing.

I also have been considering using the model to do a proper sketch, but trying to get all the angles has been difficult. I'm sure there is an easier way, but I do not now how.

the mesh fit is way to big to attach, but I tried an export after simplifying

What is your goal with this model?

I want to 3D print it.  It does not have to be exactly as original- just look similar and fit.

I don't think that Fusion is the right software to achieve that. Autodesk Meshmixer will work better for you.

Delete the bottom so you have a thin shell. Thicken it and then print it.

Fusion has some of the tools from Meshmixer, but not the complete range.

That scan has missing parts, and some holes that need to be cut. I thought if I could convert to a ‘regular’ body I could fix up fairly easily.

I could sketch one using the scan as a ‘model’- but there are many planes and I don’t know an easy way to do it.  I am still learning.

Thanks

Can you attach the original scan data. This .stl looks like it has been attempted to be repaired and has been done very incorrectly and made things much worse to work with.

What scanner are you using?

Here is another scan. it has holes, but perhaps shows actual shape better.

It is a Moose.  not very good and I'm having issues getting anything decent at all out of it.

I very much appreciate the help and suggestions.

Garbage in, garbage out.

If you plan on direct modelling scan data for your final product, its better to scan 50 times until it come out right rather than spending 2 hours sculpting missing shapes back in. You might need to do some prep work on your object. Black stuff often doesn't scan well, you are missing a lot data in the corners. You could try dusting it with bread flour or baby powder first. The iphone faceID might work better than the Moose, I use the EM3D app.
