local rendering very slow after 30 Oct update

Hi Support,

Not sure if you are aware but after todays update to Fusion 360 the local rendering is now very slow taking over 1 hour to do a web 800x600 which took only a few minutes on the previous version before this update causing the timer ( MAC beach ball) to appear.

I'm using a MAC 27' 5K with 32gb of RAM

Do you know what has caused this?

Are you already aware of this issue and are you looking into it

When I submit a local render the machine is locked (with the spinning beach ball) and I'm left waiting for the cursor to return, this makes the local rendering unusable.

And I have noticed that the rendering timer appears to increase if you add more renders in the queue.

Thanks

Pat

Hi @patrick.c.obrien,

thanks for posting!

I tested local rendering on a sample design on my machine and could not reproduce the behaviour - local rendering works at a speed I would expect. I have the following questions:

  1. Are you possibly running other applications simultaneously while creating the local renders?
  2. Does the behaviour occur for specific designs or for any design you are working on?
  3. Is this reproducible for In-Canvas rendering?
  4. If you are able to test it, is this reproducible for Cloud rendering?

Thanks!

Hi Support,

I have done a bit more investigation and it appears to be an issue with imported/opened and third party model other than fusion files where the files get translated (.obj .stl) when opened by Fusion. Saved as Fusion file and modified still the rendering process is very slow, any ideas why this might be the case ?
I hope that helps to point you in the right direct so that you can replicate the issue.

Regards

Hi @patrick.c.obrien,

thanks for the reply! I have the following questions:

  • Are you aware if the same files rendered faster before the Oct 30th update?
  • Would you be able to share the model to any of the affected files with me (Right-click on the design thumbnail within the Fusion 360 Data Panel -> Share Public Link). If you do not want to post the generated link here, you can also send it to me in a private message. I would like to check how long it takes for the render to complete on my machine and if there is anything about this design that may cause long rendering times.

Thanks in advance!
