Including Screencasts in a Post

So, I'm trying to post a question to the forum with four included screencasts. I have my message all typed up and my screencasts are created using the Autodesk Screencast app and on my contribution dashboard. From the contribution dashboard, I am copying the embed code of each one, one at a time, selecting the embed size that is marked as suitable for the Autodesk Community. Here is an example of one of the codes:

When I try to preview my post, it turns red and I get this message:

At first I thought maybe it was because I had uploaded them as "unlisted," but I changed them all to "public" and it's still doing the same thing. After making the change, I waited over night before retrying to ensure that the change was actually made.

How can I actually get screencasts embedded into my post?

Thanks, but this doesn't tell me why it's not working for me. Why is it not working to embed them into my post?

Can't see the image you tried to attach so don't have a clue what that said. What browser are you using? What happens if you try and quote my post above, do you still get an error. Whatever your problem it's on your computer, going to be hard for someone to help, I just made my post to double check you can attach multiple screencasts and it works so the problems not on this forum.

It's interesting that the image I included isn't visible anymore. I went back to the post later and it was visible, but now I can't see it either. Here it is again:

I added it as an attachment too, just in case.

I'm using Safari as my browser. Do you know if there's a Safari setting that I need to change to allow embedding html? I've done a cursory google search and haven't come up with anything.

I just hit Post for this message and got the exact same message, even though I didn't have any html in the message. I'm going to hit post a second time now and see if it posts...

Can you create a Screencast recording showing how you are attempting to include a Screencast recording in Safari browser reply?

Here you go. I didn't even try embedding it since that's not working. I've attached it.

Rather than pasting the url on the HTML tab

go down lower where it states to:

PAST A SCREENCAST URL:

then click Preview

and then click Insert.

I still get the same error, and even if that works, it looks like that would only allow me to include one screencast. To get my point across, I really need all four. Although, I suppose if it's absolutely necessary I could combine all four into one and just add it as an attachment. I would prefer to get this issue figured out, though, for the future.

Any other ideas?

It's definitely not a "Safari" problem.

I've attached and embedded hundreds of screencasts using Safari including iOS Safari on an iPad.

You can include more than one screencast by embedding them.

This thread describes all aspects of adding and embedding screencasts.

Thank you for the response, Peter. As you can see in my previous posts above, though, I have already done everything mentioned in that thread. I have followed the instructions to embed a video into a post. These were the steps I took before watching any instructional videos, and I've tried it several times since then. I didn't necessarily think it was a browser issue, but someone else mentioned it, so I didn't want to rule it out. If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I just restarted my computer and am still having the same issue...

This isn't even the main issue I'm trying to resolve. I'm having a problem with something in Fusion 360 that a client is relying on. It's a bit frustrating that I can't even post my question.

I do appreciate the time that everyone has put into answering me. Would it be possible for someone that works at Autodesk to address this?

You can also just simply post the link to the screencast in the post using the chain link symbol above the text box you are writing your post in.

I'd create a new thread for that specific topic however, in case you've not already one so.

@brianrepp Could you help. the screen recording @brysonwhitedesign has attached shows exactly what I usually do when trying to embed a screencast. However, in this case the forum software deletes the HTML code and then obviously there is not screencast embedded.

Thank you, Peter. I started a separate thread with screencasts attached as links, so at least I was able to get that started. I'd sure like to find out sometime why the videos won't embed in a post. I suppose that can be a problem for a later time, though.

Thanks a ton to @TrippyLighting, @HughesTooling and @TheCADWhisperer for your work towards getting this solved for @brysonwhitedesign. 

I've escalated this issue to two parties that may be able to help here at Autodesk. Hopefully we'll be able to find a solution soon.

@brysonwhitedesign: My suggestion for the short term is to just post your screencast links as suggested by @TrippyLighting. That will ensure you're able to get the help you need now. We'll get to work on figuring out how to solve this for you long term.

@aaron.tw For some reason I get this error trying to attach an STL file on this PC with Simplify3d installed. Using my other PC that doesn't have simplify installed I can attach STL files so does the software installed have some effect on what can be uploaded somehow?

Hi @brysonwhitedesign,

We've been talking internally and have 2 ideas for you:

1. Are you sure your screencasts are public (this may not be the right path but is worth a shot)?

2. Have you tried the "my screencasts" functionality (see screenshot below)?

Hey @HughesTooling,

That's an interesting issue since .stl is listed in our supported file types in the Community FAQ.

This may be worth creating a new post in our Community Feedback forum.

If I was to venture a guess in how to solve this issue... it would be that Simplify3d is creating a .stl that is specific to that program. Perhaps there is an option to save a universal .stl instead? This is just a guess
