Importing Design from different project.

I am wondering how I can import a design from another project into my current. I am working on designing a 3D printer and I have a design for the extruder that I want to use in a different project.

I would like to be able to import one design into a different project that is linked so I only have to update the extruder project and anything using it will be updated.

Is there a method for doing this in Fusion 360?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

As you may have noticed, this is not yet supported between cross-projects. In doing so, will break the association link to the original file. Just to check however - are you referring to cross-projects, or just inbetween models in the same project? If it is cross-project, my suggestion would be to create a copy of the file and then move that to the project you are working in. Then you should be able to right-click the file from the Data Panel and select Insert into Current Design and it will retain the associativity.

If you are just looking for more information on how to use XREF's in your design, check out this screencast by @paul.clauss here!

Thanks,
