How to Create a Sphere from a Circle on a Sketch?

Hello,

How would I create a sphere from a circle on a sketch. Let's say that I start (in a sketch) with a large rectangle and then put a circle in the center. I would like to revolve the circle into a sphere and extrude the remainder into a thin surface. So the result should look a little like a card bisecting a marble.

Thanks for any assistance!

John

The first thing you need to know is that you cannot create a sphere from a circle.  You will be using the Revolve command on a semi-circle.  Fusion 360 has a Sphere command which creates a sphere directly without a sketch if you want to use that.  Take a look at my screencast for the process you asked for.

Thanks!

The semi-circle was the missing piece I needed. That was a terrific video.

Appreciate all your assistance!

Thanks! I really appreciate that you took your time to make a screencast. It's so much easier for us beginners to understand what you're doing.

@jhackney1972 I know that you posted this many years ago, but I just wanted to log into the forums and say Thank You for demonstrating how to make a sphere from a sketch in Fusion 360.  I used your method to easily cut a sphere out of an object on one of my projects and I was able to complete the cut exactly where I needed to.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with the community.
Sincerely,
Brian B.
