When I click the home button on the upper left side of the screen it disables the data panel button. Is it just me doing something wrong and or my computer?

I can work around, i just liked to be able to switch between the two.

That's expected. The Data Panel is only active in a document context, so is disabled when a document is inactive.

the data panel navigates the project tree, not the open document. no reason it can't still function without a document open, particularly since it appears to show data the home view does not (document versions)

Ultimately, the reason is because Home is intended to be the primary project navigation method rather than Data Panel.

That's an idea I guess. I spend most of my time with a part open navigating projects with the data panel. If I close the last document I lose my place because the data panel goes away and I get kicked back to the home panel, which I only use to open the first document in the session so I can get back to the data panel. If you want us to land on home when initially opening the software that's fine, but locking us out of the data panel even though it should, by all rights, be totally funtional in the absence of an open document, in order to guide us to the navigation method your design team prefers rather than the one I spend 98% of my time in is fairly annoying.

Why is it when the delevopers disrupt our work flow, the answer is "it's designed to work that way".  Are they testing our resolve to stay with Fusion?
