Fusion plugin for ChatGPT desktop

Hi,

I have been using the official Fusion plugin which is available in the Claude Desktop app for a while with Claude Fable and it works great. I use it for calculations/mechanical designs which are created by Fable and refined by me.

Is there a similar plugin for OpenAI/ChatGPT desktop app (Windows)?

Regards,

Hi @haraldZXTDW ,

At the moment, there is no official Autodesk Fusion plugin available for ChatGPT Desktop.

For AI-assisted workflows inside Fusion, I would recommend trying Autodesk Assistant, which is integrated directly with Fusion.

Could you also share a little more about what you want to achieve with ChatGPT?

Understanding your expected workflow will help us better understand the requirement.

Thanks!

I use Claude Fable at the moment, but the workflow with ChatGPT (Sol/Astra) would be the same:

  1. I tell Claude desktop (Cowork) to model some mechanical part, given some constraints (for example min/max size, weight, etc.).
  2. Claude makes a sparse model using simple forms (cylinders, boxes, ...)
  3. I check the general design and continue with 1) and 2) until it looks good.
  4. I tell Claude to create joints so that the parts can be animated. This usually works immediately (rarely movement are inverted and need refinement)
  5. I tell Claude to replace the sparse forms with "designed" parts and to use off-the-shelf parts (bearings, ball joints, rails, etc.) for joints, etc. Claude automatically selects appropriate parts based on the load requirements.

Claude Opus cannot do this very well, but Fable, especially Fable 5.1 is very good. It needs hardly any corrections anymore.

Technically, Claude creates Python scripts, which are executed by Fusion and model the scene (but all this runs in the background and is almost invisible to the user - you can check the Python scripts but it does not make much sense).

I hope this helps.

Hi @haraldZXTDW,

Thank you, this helps a lot and makes the workflow very clear.

I understand that you're looking for ChatGPT to interact directly with Fusion in a similar way

This is a very useful use case. At the moment, there is no official Fusion integration for ChatGPT Desktop that provides this workflow.

I will share your feedback and workflow with the team.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain it in detail.
