Fusion not showing models

For christmas I got a new laptop. It is a Hp Victus 15-fb2063. This laptop is win 11. It also has dual gpu. It has AMD integrated graphics and AMD RX 6550M. I installed fusion and everything went fine. Only problem I have is that when I open a design the model does not show up. If I switch fusion to directx 9 everything works fine. When I choose directx 9 though it says that soon that won't be supported. So I need to sort this issue out. I have googled for issues. I have installed the latest drivers.

Device name victus
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.21 GB usable)

Hi Lisa,

Disabling the integrated graphics allows fusion to work properly on the main display.  The system does act differently in general though. Now it is treating my external monitor like it is the main display and the internal is secondary.  Now the main display doesn't show Radeon rx 6550m it shows Microsoft basic driver. It also doesn't have near as many display modes and such.

Thanks

Michael

@michaeltates sorry for getting back to you late.

Have you tried Rearrange your displays to recover the primary and secondary respectively?

For the display doesn't recognize Radeon rx6550m, but showing Microsoft basic driver, it still looks like the driver hasn't been installed properly or some settings in the system/BIOS need to be adjusted. At this point, it is more like a system & hardware issue, I would suggest you contact HP for more support.

Please feel free to let us know if there're other issues with Fusion.

Thanks for your support as always!

Regards,

Lisa

I contacted hp support, they were no help other than to tell me that I had tried more than most people would. The bios is locked down and there is no options related to the graphics.

Just to try something different I disabled the discrete graphics in the device driver and things seemed to work just fine. So basically it seems like fusion or something gets confused about which graphics card to use or something.

Thanks @michaeltates for sharing more update with us!
Please continue using the workaround by disabling the integrated card. We will also investigate if there's possibility by forcing Fusion to use the discrete card or provide some option to choose the desired card.

I finally found an acceptable solution, and the root cause of the issue.  Go to settings > system > display  make sure the scale is set to 100%. Windows shows 125% as recommended on my system but that make fusion not work right with directx11.

I have the same Victus Laptop, and had the exact same issue.  I disabled the integrated graphics in the device manager and that let Fusion 360 work with DirectX11, but that is greatly reducing my battery life.  The system wants to change to the integrated graphics when preforming simpler tasks to save energy, and now can't.

Have you tried looking at the scale setting? Honestly I don't think this laptop has very good battery life anyways. Just watching youtube seems to drain the battery faster than I think it should. If I can help let me know but I've posted everything here.

Hi, this fixed my problem, thanks! (Asus Zephyrus G14 [AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and Radeon 6700S])

@LishuangLu  Could you please fix this bug? I would like to have my monitor set to scale at 125% instead of 100%, as the icons are too small for me at 100%.

Thanks!

Hi @-snehulak- , thank you for your feedback!

Would disabling the integrated graphics card and using the discrete one at 125% scaling work for you?
If you prefer sticking with the integrated GPU at that scale, the issue likely stems from chipset limitations, which Fusion can’t address. The most reliable solution is to use a discrete graphics card with sufficient GPU resources to fully support the larger display scale.

Thanks,

Hi @LishuangLu ,

Thank you for your reply.

I did some testing and found that the issue is caused when Fusion “passes through” the integrated graphics.

I’m using a laptop connected to a 27-inch display via USB-C. Unfortunately, the DisplayPort over USB-C is wired only to the integrated GPU, so even if I’m using only the dedicated graphics card, the integrated GPU is still needed to “forward” the video signal to the 27-inch monitor. And this is where the problem occurs.

So, if I use only the integrated GPU (with the dedicated GPU disabled) or only the dedicated GPU (with the iGPU disabled), Fusion on DirectX11 works fine. But if I disable the iGPU, I can’t use the large monitor.

However, using both the iGPU and dGPU together works perfectly on DirectX9, but unfortunately, you’re planning to remove support for it. Would it be possible to keep DirectX9 in the application for users experiencing the same issue?

Do you think this issue is related to Fusion itself, DirectX, or possibly the AMD GPU drivers?

Thanks!

Thank you for performing additional tests and sharing your findings with us!
Based on your results, it appears this issue occurs only on specific hardware configurations. Since we don’t have access to the same devices on our end, we’re unable to directly reproduce the problem. However, the behavior seems to point toward a compatibility issue related to DirectX 11 on systems with dual AMD GPUs. Previously, this may have been masked by the fallback to DirectX 9, but with Fusion’s transition to DirectX 11, the issue has become more apparent.
We’ll forward your case and findings to AMD for further investigation, though we can’t guarantee an immediate resolution. For the time being, we recommend continuing to use the current workaround as the best available solution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Regards,

Lisa

Thank you for the fast reply.
I hope you can fix this problem before you remove DirectX 9 support.

If you need more information or need to do some tests in the future, be sure to contact me.

Best regards,
Snehulak
