Fusion no longer purging old versions?

Currently, when Fusion updates, it leaves the old version behind, eating up quite a bit of disk space.

I believe this behaviour started recently (maybe a few months), and that prior to that, Fusion would remove old files after an update.

I guess this is intentional, but why? Surely there's no need to keep the files for the old versions around, at least not more than one version back. I think Fusion should clean up after itself, as each version takes up a few gigabytes of storage.

Is there some setting I am unaware of to control this?

The older versions have sometimes left a couple of files/subfolders in their main folder but the July+ versions seem to leave the full directory structure after an update. Quite a waste of disk space.

Today we have deployed an update version 2.0.20494 that has a fix for this issue. After this update you should not see these huge files left behind. Apologies for the previous experience. Please let us know if you continue to see this.

Fixed, thanks! We can now enjoy gigabytes of additional free disk space.

Still happening as of October 2025. Please fix this, every update again my disk space shrinks because of this.

Hi @r_kraaijer65T3P

We haven't seen this issue since pushing the fix last year (I use a mac as my daily driver as well). There is one valid scenario where you might see multiple builds - right after installing the update, there will be two builds present. The old one gets cleaned up in the next launch after install.

If that is not what's happening, please share diagnostic log files and a screenshot of your webdeploy folder and we can take a look.

Cheers,

Karina

Hi Karina,

Thank you for the quick response!

That's so strange to hear. I've been having this problem this whole year. I once removed 5 versions or something. And I know it was this year too, because I didn't use Fusion before then!

But, last month I did completely remove the app and installed it again, and I think that must have done the trick for some reason, because I just updated to (2604.1.48), and after launching it, it did remove the old version just fine.

I'm not sure if my experience can be explained or not, but either way, I guess I spoke too soon! If only I updated before I made the annoyed post, sorry about that! 😅

Thanks again!
