Fusion Crashing

Overall fusion as been crashing much more frequently for our team as of lately.  Seeing if anyone has similar experiences as of late.

We're on the mac version.  Once I get confirmed repro steps I'll report back.  But it seems mostly whenever multitasking is evolved while fusion is inside render mode running in the background.

Hi @jmicgavin,

Thank you for reporting this.

I have checked if you have submitted any CER´s but I havent been able to find anything in our system.

Did Fusion 360 crash with a report dialog box or did it just hang for a while?

It would be great if you could share the log files with us, please use the link here

Please, keep us updated.

Thank you,

It'd be under our other account jgavin@oriental.com or another @oriental.com

I'll see about sending logs next time it crashes. Haven't experienced any issues's today though.

Almost wonder if it's on our server side of things though.  Because it seems to crash when minimized, so any case where you minimize fusion and say go to illustrator it crashes.  Does fusion typically make saves to cloud once minimized @Mike.Grau? Thanks for your help so far

Hi @jmicgavin

Thanks for the response! I had a look at the crash reports for *@oriental.com and found that you do seem to be crashing for a variety of different reasons.

Some of these reports fell into the graphics module - are you certain you are using the most recent graphics drivers for your card? Out-of-date drivers can often cause issues in which Fusion crashes and hangs, please update your graphics drivers to the most recent version and let me know if you continue to experience frequent crashes.

As it seems that you have been crashing while minimizing Fusion, please include a comment about this in your crash reports when you submit them. Anything that helps the development team understand what you were doing when Fusion crashes is very helpful! Unfortunately, it is very hard to say if Fusion is getting to save the files before crashing without having a look at the logs and knowing the nature of the crash - it is possible that they are being added to the upload queue and it is possible the crash is occurring too quickly for them to be added. Fusion should save backup files when minimized, but it is hard to say exactly when the crash is occurring in your case.

Feel free to send over the logs if you see more crashing - we are happy to have a look!

Yes, if you set auto save to be active.

Thank you and have a great weekend,

Experienced frequent crashes today and submitted the logs all under jgavin@oriental.com.  Made sure to note in the logs that crashes happened with Fusion minimized on the Mac OS.

Even after 5 some odd crashes it's still not easily repeatable.

Also, can confirm latest graphic drivers have been installed.  Any further resolution for this would be much appreciated. I may try disabling autosaves temporarily to see if this solves anything.

@paul.clauss and @Mike.Grau Thanks for the help so far.

Hi @jmicgavin

Thanks for the response! I had a look at your crash reports and did not see your log files attached... the comments that you make in the crash report window are not the same as the diagnostic logs that can be gathered on your computer by following this procedure. These comments can still be very helpful to our development team, but without these logs it is difficult for me to provide much perspective on the crashes you are experiencing, as none seem to be triggered by known defects.

Please gather those log files and attach them to this forum thread - I am happy to have a look!

Hi @jmicgavin

Thanks for sending the logs over! I had a quick look this afternoon and noticed a consistent network that seemed to occur before each crash. This network error is shown below;

20170822T165958 E Network failed request - response NOT OK:
URI:https://developer.api.autodesk.com/derivativeservice/v2/thumbnails/dXJuOmFkc2sud2lwcHJvZDpmcy5maWxlOnZmLkR6aE1TWmp1U3l5Nzh3blR6S0lLb3c_dmVyc2lvbj04?width=256&height=256
...X-Request-ID: ContentBrowser(f72e1ad5-849e-440e-94eb-84682d3b6ca1)__65c7ac48-7d3a-4ea5-9bd5-5d3e5addb734

It looks like Fusion is failing to contact the developer.api.autodesk.com server. Adding the *api.autodesk.com server to your anti-virus and firewall trusted sites should allow Fusion to access this site, which may reduce the number of crashes you are experiencing. Please add the URL above, along with the addresses at this link, to your anti-virus/firewall exceptions (and proxy server exceptions if you are using a proxy) and let me know if it seems to help!

@paul.clauss Thank you for providing a solution so quick.  We recently had Digital Guardian installed that has seem to create all sorts of conflicts and this seems to be just another case where it's preventing software from operating properly.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the response! I do not believe any of the applications listed are essential for use by Fusion. Fusion does need to contact the internet, but you shouldn't need to have an open instance of a web browser open. Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions!
