2d drawing Balloon tool problem.

There used to be 2 balloon tools on the toolbar, in the last update they were merged into one tool. The problem is it defaults to standard every time it's run. I just did some patent drawings and this improvement is not very good or helpful.Smiley Sad

Hi @HughesTooling

Thanks for the post! I had a look into this and noticed that, when I invoked the command with the Balloon button on the ribbon that it would always default to "Standard" balloons. However, if I selected "Patent" as the balloon type, created one, and then exited the command, I found that the selected type of balloon was remembered when I used the right click marking menu (swiping up with the mouse) to repeat the previous command.

I also found that the Balloon dialogue does not need to be exited to create a new balloon, and, after being in the Balloon dialogue box, it would remember the setting applied to the previous balloon, as shown below:ballooning.gif

I have reached out to the Drawings team to see if defaulting to standard balloons rather than remembering the previous option selected was intentional and will circle back here if it looks like things are not working as intended. Thanks for bringing this one to our attention!

Both of those are OK if you add all the balloons in one go. Trouble is I needed to add several views and move views to make everything fit so couldn't really add all of the balloons in one go. Would be helpful if it was sticky for the current session, doesn't matter if it defaults to standard between sessions. I did notice an improvement that allows editing where the arrow is attached, in the past you could move the arrow but it would have the warning triangle and was impossible to reassociate so at least now there's no need to delete then add a new balloon if you move a view.

Thanks Mark
