Fusion 360 performance is slow.

Especially dimensioning both sketches and drawings.

Model designs are small, yet waiting for spinny wheel constantly.

In drawings, having extreme difficulty just selecting a hole to hole dimension. (see screen cast)

Mouse zoom is erratic

system:

I have an eGPU, but Fusion doesn't recognize it.

I will attach my Screencast when it becomes available. So far it's taken over 10 minutes....

Hi @David_Ewen

Thanks for posting. It does look like that drawing is lagging a bit in your screencast. Unfortunately, neither of the screenshots in your original post seems to be visible - would you mind sharing those screenshots as attachments in your next post?

Fusion will not recognize external GPUs at this time.

Does this problem behavior occur in every Fusion file, or only in specific files? Does it occur in a new design file that is empty? If it only occurs in specific files, please share an example with me using any of the techniques at this link.

The issue with erratic mouse zoom can be due to peripheral device drivers - do you have any peripheral devices installed on your computer? If so, does removing or updating their drivers improve performance?

As it seems that you are experiencing a fair amount of general lagginess in Fusion, I also wonder if this could have been an error during installation or an update. Does Fusion run more smoothly after a clean uninstall/reinstall?

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any question or continue to see problems - I'm happy to help.

@paul.clauss

Paul,

Thanks for the response.

Drivers: not applicable - using Macs (2 different computers)

I'm not sure if it happens in every design.

It definitely happens in these designs;

*with components and sub components

*with inserted mesh bodies

After I finish this post, I will do a clean uninstall/reinstall and post again.

I can only clean my MacBook Pro at this time.

David

Hi @David_Ewen

Thanks for the response! If the problem does not occur with all designs, I am fairly certain is it dataset related.

If you could share one of the assembly design with me I'd be happy to have a look. It think that it is likely that the assembly designs are relatively detailed or large, which can cause lagging in Fusion.

The same is true for large inserted mesh files - how many faces does the mesh have? Fusion is not well equipped to handle mesh data with over 10,000 faces - are you working with much larger mesh files?

Paul,

Here's a couple designs I'm having trouble with.

Hi @David_Ewen

Thanks for posting. I found that I had no issues with the mesh file on my MacBook Pro - would you mind recording a screencast illustrating Fusion lagging with that file? I've shown the behavior on my end in the screencast below - are you receiving poor performance in comparison?

Does performance in that file increase if you limit effects for performance?

Are you working on a high resolution monitor? If so, please try working through these tips.

The other file certainly showed some poor performance on my end, but that is a file specific issue that will be addressed in the ticket Masa logged with the development team on this thread. I'm unsure of how that file got into its current state (which development will be addressing in FUS-39357), but you may be able to work around the problem by exporting a STEP copy of the entire assembly from Fusion 360 and re-uploading it as a new file (this will break the links to the inserted designs but the STEP file is workable).

You could also try right clicking the "PSA-QTS364-20_MGC" component native to the assembly design and saving it in a new file. You could then re-insert the other components from the assembly into that file - working in a new file may be the only way around whatever type of file corruption is effecting the original. We apologize for any inconveniences this has caused.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.
