Freeze and crash when editing dimensions on drawing since latest update

Running version Fusion 2.0.20981 x86_64 on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.2605)

i9-14900HX with RTX 4080 (mobile)

Since the most recent update I'm getting very regular freeze and crashes when trying to open up tool bar items. For example, double clicked a dimension to chance it's settings. When I double click, nothing opens. Try double clicking another dimension, same again. Then try to save the document, and fusion crashes.

It would appear to me what ever triggers the 'pop up' when you interact with something is causing the crash. This is only happening since the most recent update.

An issue I have had for a long time is when I ctrl+P to print, the screen darkens but the print dialog doesn't show up. I do wonder if this is related?

I'm also dual monitor at work. Even if this problem is related to tabbing in and out, it's still unacceptable. A lot of the time I'm tabbing between multiple PDFs and web pages as references, which is crucial. Reading what @jackX2B6R has said I'm glad drawing isn't my main thing.

This issue is pretty bad though. Of the few drawings that I do produce, this is crippling that work flow. Given most of the crashes require killing Fusion via Task Manager, I do wonder if Autodesk fully appreciate the scale of this issue as killing it via TM will result in no error report being sent.

..IMO..And I programmed application software in the windows environment..it IS related.

I am having this problem and it is related to a 'suppressed' dialog box that fusion is calling, however, Fusion itself is the 'Frontmost' window - so the dialog window Fusion is also 'Frontmost' and the user 'clicks' off of Fusion somewhere else on your windows desktop - the user gets locked out - you'll hear the windows 'Bonk' sounds - meaning you're not clicking in the on the correct  application dialog.

@Salient1492 I agree the problem may well be related, but, it's irrelevant to me (and you!) as a paying customer. I'd bet the vast majority of professional fusion users do use multiple monitors, given the work efficiency increase that comes with it. So if that is causing the problem, then they need to fix it.

The dialog box situation in Fusion is buggy in general, not just around this crash. Just trying to print often leads to having to alt+tab around to get the print dialog window to show up, for example.

FYI: If the dialog has the Fusion icon in the left corner: that is 'Windows' Container call and not a dialog generated from the Fusion application development kernel.

I notice the Fusion 'Save Version' dialog is a Windows container call - as it has the Fusion application icon - the other fusion dialog boxes such as 'Move/Copy' don't have the icon...

so this time, it crashed in the drawing again, surprise, but after ending the task, trying to reopen fusion gave an error saying that fusion was already open and it cant handle multiple instances run at the same time.

I'm going to go out as a experience programmer for Medical Devices - that this problem is part of the early legacy code part of Fusion - which it is likely the 'new' developers are not touching.

And Windows Container calls were back in Win98 days the ONLY way to generate the 'Windows' that made 'Windows' famous was to call the Windows OS application and dialog containers.

Now your development kernel can do this; so you can have fancy, low profile mouse-click menus and flyout menus like photoshop, etc.

I am projecting that their is some ego pushback on the dev team - from touching this legacy part of Fusion.

My 0.02 $..as I am having Fusion crash - also you LOSE your drawing edits when this happens.

BTY: The fusion HUB rollout was a near complete disaster.... Cause as I customer I want to see ALL MY PROJECTS DISAPPEAR FROM THE CLOUD WHEN I MIGRATE TO THE HUB!!!

My mouse freezes after I create, copy, move, or edit a dimension. This problem occurred on my old computer on Win 11 and AutoCAD 2024 AND on my new computer with Win 11 and AutoCAD 2025.

We can see it's going to crash when all tooltips disappear and dimension properties no longer opens. The real kicker is recommendation to "save often", while the freeze and an inevitable crash occurs when saving. So we can see all the work we have done, and can do nothing to prevent losing it.

It is really professional when it happens during a final drawing revision Zoom meeting - when Fusion crashes live before our managers!. And some are big SolidWaste fans! and don't miss the opportunity to talk about getting a 'Real' CAD design package.

Please fix the Model 'save' dialog box

This does seem to have resolved the problem so far. Thank you for letting us know.
Can you and your team provide any assurances that a problem of this significance will be dealt with  more promptly if it occurs again?

I am being pressured to change CAD suppliers and it would be helpful to have something that I can argue in favour of Fusion with.

I completely agree. Autodesk / Fusion needs to take customer input seriously if they want the product adoption they are targeting.

The Hub rollout was a complete and utter DISASTER from the customer perspective. Why???: One of 'the customers' biggest fears on cloud base software & customer date storage is loosing all the data.

When I was 'forcibly' migrated to the Hub - I opened Fusion - was forced to 'update' my projects and WOLA! all my projects were GONE!, I lost all my project data.

...now why some moron at Autodesk thought that 'archiving' all my projects - even the one's on worked on hours ago was a great idea...then to recover my project the terrible GUI design of the Hub portal had ONE AND ONLY ONE PLACE TO 'RIGHT-Click'  [really!] to make my projects 'Active'

Hire a UX designer-  and stop your programmers from writing UI's without direction...

I work on and design Medical devices: What a real education: Have a Doctor tell you how to 'improve' your software when attempting a medical procedure...my vocabulary is timid to what I've heard first person...

Actually, we are working on reviewing and resolving customer issues and feedback activately, and try our best to deliver any fixing for any critical issue at early time. Not meaning to make any excuses, this issue is a bit weird and caused by Win 11 OS version update. We keep working on this Freeze issue in these monthes. Finally, the solution is the collaboration from many team, such as Fusion drawing; UI and other product outside Fusion team.

If there is any other issue in Future, please kindly let us know. Thanks all for the patience and support.

I do appreciate the problem, Windows updates play hell with a lot of our networking and often our plc's get blamed when clients can't remote dial in.

However, I am facing directors who are extremely unhappy that a multi million pound contract was jeopardised because we looked incompetent when we couldn't produce drawings.

I like Fusion, I think it's a great piece of software and it compliments our workflow well, you and many others at Fusion are responsive and helpful when we run into issues. I really do not relish the idea of having to transfer everything to some other software.

Again, is there anything more concrete that you can give me that I can use to defend Fusion?

Hi all,

I had been dealing with this issue for some time, and myself and one of autodesk advisors helped me, and the problem is windows update. do not update to 24H2 windows 11, if you are able to rollback or reinstall windows to the 23h2 version of windows 11 you are good i am not sure if the latest update has fixed the issue. No crashing at all!!!

So the issue in not fusion it is windows updates.
