FIXED: Error: Unresolved Components in Assembly after March Update

Hi all,

We have recently become aware of an issue when opening an assembly with linked (XREF'd) parts, that it may throw an error saying "Error: This Document may contain Unresolved Components" and the assembly links and components are broken.

In this event DO NOT SAVE THE DESIGN and DO NOT PROMOTE PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE DESIGN. In doing so, the links may be broken, and as a result, a previous version will have to be promoted after the fix is deployed to restore the links.

We are working very diligently to solve this issue and post a fix within 24 hours. As soon as it is released I will update this post.

Thanks,

Thanks for letting us know. This is a serious issue for me, as it has ground the design process to a halt.

Hi James,

Thank you for your post and the great work you and the team are doing. I've also seen the "unresolved component" error message. I think this error could also be the root-cause of the odd appearance of a linked subassembly that I posted about yesterday. I was in the process of trying to re-build a model as I'd got the unresoved component error when the error in the link below occurred:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/imported-component-different-from-original-compone...

Good luck with your work fixing the issue. I'm sure we're all looking forward to hear about the fix.

Many thanks

Jon

Thanks for letting us know you're working on it.  Bugs happen in software, and when they do I appreciate that you guys acknowledged the problem and are working to fix it.

Unfortunately I've been unable to work on my project yesterday, and presumably all day today, so I hope you find a solution soon!

I was hoping to work on different projects today, but apparently every single model in my repository is giving this error 😞     No idea what's causing it, but my models all use a variety of parts that are referenced.

Guess I'll read a book?

Thank you for your attention in fixing this major bug. Do you have any updates on the status of a new release? Many of us are not able to work on our projects because of this bug.

Yeah this is a major bug that needs to be fixed immediately. I cant believe its been almost 24 hours and nothing yet. I've been at a complete standstill, not about to go rebuild an assembly that has over 150 parts.

We are planning to release an update with a fix to this today.  This is our highest priority, and we will get it out as soon as we can.  We apologize that it has taken so long to get the fix released.

Great! That was a painful 24 hours. To prevent these kind of things in the future, is there any way to optionally roll back the software update until the fix is implemented?

Hi @stiller.design,

It should be fully resolved after the hot fix we deployed last week. Can you confirm you are on version 2.0.5511? To confirm, click the Help menu of Fusion in the top-right corner and select About.

Thanks,

I found I needed to "refresh" the models I was working with in order to completely get rid of the problem. This is described in step 2 of the solution to another related problem I was having:

I'm dealing with issues where models which where not save are now damaged, so I think there is still some sort of issue but what is up for investigation.

I have a model which is being looked at by people at Autodesk.

Hi @stiller.design ,

I would. This seems different and I'd like to make sure we capture that correctly.

Thanks,
