Feature Request: Make the space bar "repeat command"

I know this has been posted before but you guys really need to just do this. The spacebar does nothing in Fusion 360 when designing unless typing something in.

Right clicking and then moving  the cursor to "repeat command" is ridiculous work flow when you are doing something repetitive.

Mastercam has this feature and makes the work flow so much nicer. Please please please make the space bar activate "repeat command".

Thanks for the feedback @InfoBBQ7V. We have resisted doing this thus far because doing so would also restrict the spacebar from being utilized with other user-configured command hotkeys. I'll revisit this topic with the team and see what's possible.

Thank you for passing that along.

But what do you mean by "restrict the spacebar from being utilized with other user-configured command hotkeys."?

I'm having a hard time understanding the meaning of this sentence.

Can I configure the space bar as a hot key?  Can I make the repeat command be that hot key?

Yes; no.

If you wanted to, you could bind any toolbar command to Space currently. But, Repeat Command is not a command visible on the toolbar, so it cannot have a hotkey set currently. This is unfortunately a limiting factor for many Fusion commands (views and graphics options are another common request for changing hotkeys).

Alternately, if we assign Space to a non-toolbar command it becomes reserved so that no other command can use it, which might also ruffle some feathers. We might be able to make it a preference so that it's only reserved when enabled for this purpose - but this is just an idea off the top of my head and I need to consult with the folks actually digging around in the command framework.

I'll reply back in the future should we make some progress on this.

Is there a place to vote for this?  This is in AutoCAD and Inventor why not Fusion?

There isn't, but posting here works just as well. Thank you for the feedback!

I cannot give an exact date, but this should be available in a future release later this summer.

That would be awesome and life changing for me personally lol. Please remember to update here if/when that happens so I don't miss out on using it right away.

@lance.carocci

Hi everyone,

My name is Younes Daneshvar, and I’m an industrial designer with over 15 years of experience. Throughout my career, I’ve worked extensively with a range of 3D modeling software including SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Fusion 360. Currently, Fusion 360 is my primary tool of choice.

In addition to industrial design, I have strong experience in UI and UX design for digital applications. In the design field, we often refer to the concept of "affordance" the perceived and actual properties of an object that indicate how it can be used. Over time, our minds naturally adapt to common affordances; for example, in many 3D modeling tools, pressing the spacebar repeats the last command.

However, in Fusion’s workspace, I often find myself instinctively pressing the spacebar expecting it to repeat the previous action, only to be reminded that this behavior isn’t supported. It may seem minor, but for professional users, these small breaks in interaction design can disrupt workflow and productivity.

An exaggerated but relevant comparison is ZBrush, a powerful software whose unconventional UI and interaction logic have often been cited as barriers to broader adoption. In my opinion, design decisions that ignore established affordances can alienate experienced users and impact overall usability.

Thanks for reading—looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

@mzahraeeR2ABX  - please refer to message 7 above.  This feature is already coming, we just cannot say exactly when it might be released.
